The Daejeon Metropolitan Museum is home to artefacts that give you a glimpse into the rich history and culture of Daejeon. Some of those on display reflect the lives of upper-class aristocrats, such as Confucian scholars and noblewomen, and there are also artefacts related to the famous artist and writer Sin Saimdang. Notably, there are plenty of activities in which children can participate, so it's a great destination for an outing with the whole family. Being a municipal museum, the admission fee is quite affordable.

In Dunsan-dong, you can find a prehistoric site where ruins were excavated. Prehistoric huts contrasting against a backdrop of tall modern buildings create a unique and fresh landscape. The excavated relics now reside in the Gongju National Museum, and the excavation site has since been built into a park. It's a great place for a walk while imagining how things may have been in the past. You just may end up reevaluating that which once seemed familiar.

Daejeon Skyroad refers to a massive LED video arcade built along Euneungjeongi Culture Street, which is often compared to the bustling shopping district of Myeong-dong in Seoul. Skyroad, which represents a balance of cutting-edge science, technology, culture and art, is a shopping and cultural centre and fits well with the energy of the young people in the area. The content displayed on Skyroad changes daily, and we recommend visiting at night as the display is much more dazzling after dark.

Uam Historic Park is a harmonious blend of traditional Korean hanok structures, green lawns and surrounding mountains. Namganjeongsa was once a village school building where scholar and philosopher Song Siyeol taught, which was designed to enjoy the beauty created by drawing water from a nearby valley stream into the pond on the grounds. The artistry of Korean ancestors is on full display here. Comfortable shoes are recommended as you have to do a bit of walking up gentle slopes and along a stone path.
