Lake Placid is a village and lake in New York State’s Adirondack Mountains, famed as the 2-time host site for the Winter Olympics and other major international sporting events. The Lake Placid Olympic Museum showcases artefacts and exhibits from both times the games were hosted here, including medals and uniforms. Attached to the museum, the Lake Placid Olympic Ski Jumping Complex offers interactive sporting events and scenic tours of the remaining Olympic ski jump site. In the old train station, visitors will find the Historical Society Depot Museum.

The John Brown Farm State Historic Site offers the chance to tour the former home of John Brown, a famed abolitionist. The Lake Placid-North Elba Historical Society offers seasonal local history exhibits. Local wineries include Goose Watch Winery, where you can enjoy local vintages. Nearby, Mirror Lake is a popular spot for honeymooners due to the scenic drive and clear waters, which also offer ice skating in the winter and boating in the spring and summer.
