The listing said check-in starts at 4 PM, so we arrived right on time. However, the front desk told us that “4 PM is when check-in starts,” and that we weren’t guaranteed a room at that time. We ended up waiting an hour and a half before finally getting our room.
I’ve never heard such an excuse from any hotel before. When we expressed our frustration, we were told that “American Express cardholders get late check-out,” which apparently caused our delay. That explanation made no sense to me — how does someone else’s late check-out justify another guest’s delayed check-in?
Eventually, they apologized and offered us drink vouchers, which I appreciated, but the overall experience still felt poorly managed. I just wish the staff had handled it with more professionalism and accountability.
