Different. I mean that in the absolute best sense of the word. From the small red door to come in, to taking my shoes off inside, the classical music playing on entrance, the beautiful fireplace and welcome area, the suit of armour, the staircase, the 4 poster bed, the free standing bath...I could go on and on but this is possibly my favourite hotel I've ever stayed in.
The balance between being true to it's heretige and yet being warm, comfortable and good WiFi were outstanding. What the family have done here is superb. I had a guided tour of the well downstairs and the back rooms and I would push you to explore the hotel when you stay, sit in the dining room and take it all in and enjoy your time there.
One of the rules is no take aways in your room because of the smell and mess, normally I would always have my breakfast or order a takeaway at night but here...I didn't want to, I wanted to sit in the dining room and just take it all in. I never come out of my room when working away. The bathroom and decorations throughout the hotel are stunning also, just true and authentic but at the same time so clean and modern.
What would I change - A water fountain somewhere and some larger spoons in the dining room for breakfast (maybe I missed them). But that is absolutely clutching at straws and I'm sure (in fact I know) if I would have asked, I would have been given one. That is absolutely the smallest of small nitpicky things ever. The hotel rules. Stay there
