1. We did not eat anywhere else besides the resort for 5 days. My son was vomiting and sick for one entire day. When I got on my flight back home, I also started getting sick and had to take an ambulance off the plane and spent the weekend in the ER.
2. We arrived and wanted to make reservations at the restaurants for dinner for our 5 day vacation. They were all booked except for 10pm. Way too late for children, so we had to eat at the buffet the rest of the week.
3. This is really a 1.5 star resort. Everything is lowest possible quality (toilet paper, old furniture, towels, food, drinks, etc). Totally fine with a poor quality resort, but I spent money on an advertised 4 star resort. This is the lowest end Barcelo resort and it's unable to access the better adjacent resorts.
4. Besides the pool and beach amenities, everything else is additional and not 'all-inclusive'.
5. The staff doesn't often wear any gloves when touching the food in the buffet (see sick family above).
6. When we tried to resolved our challenges with the hotel management, they only had a 'sorry' but told us that we could earn some discounts by attending a 'session' (aka timeshare) presentation. The staff must be really incentivized by getting visitors to attend because this was the resolution every time we tried to solve our issues.
I rarely give negative reviews, but I wish I had read this one before I paid for this regrettable trip. Good luck!
