Im going to be very detailed here so you can decide if this is the right hotel for you. For me, I’m a female traveling along or with another young female, so what I am looking for in a hotel is a safe location—where I feel safe sleeping at night and getting to and from the park safely.
So, pros—the hotel is easily walking distance to Universal, and it’s a straight shot! It’s also just a block away from a Walgreens and an iHop. It’s right across the street (literally) from Universal’s Endless Summer hotels, so you could even take their shuttle to and from the park. We had a ball walking to Universal City Walk and the parks and just taking the shuttle back at night.
The hotel itself—is very run down. There is no game room or gym. I mean there are physical rooms in the building that say that, but they’re empty. There is a working microwave in the lobby. There is one rusty old water fountain downstairs near the bathrooms at the back. The carpet is old and dirty, as is everything. Expect no frills—not even a microwave or fridge in your room. Not even more than a handful of working channels on the TV. This is just a place to sleep at night. There were ants and roaches. In the three nights we stayed there, the only staff we saw was the front desk clerk. No one will change out your towels or empty the garbage. There was hair in the shower and bathroom and in one of the beds, like the bed was made but the sheets hadn’t been changed. The other bed looked completely clean, however.
