disappointing and unprofessional behavior
- we booked 5 rooms and asked to be placed on the same floor. The reception informed that this option is not available, which is understandable, but mentioned that we can easily move between rooms since we have the same elevator. what she did not say is that each one of us had access to their floor only, and this is very deceptive
- another issue is, upon check in i used my amex. however the machine did not accept it because of connection issue although i was charged. The receptionist the moment the payment was not confirmed asked me to deal with it and contact “JCC” which is a local entity in Cyprus & i did not know it. I had to insist that she needs to investigate it and the only party i can talk to is my card provider
- my biggest issue is that i had to checkout earlier because of a death in my family. I informed the reception a day before for a refund or to apply the cancellation policy. The receptionist promised to come back to me. she never did. However on the day of checkout i asked again and she said that its not possible. I mentioned that it does not make sense since you have a cancellation policy. She referred me to another lady and she said the issue is related to the fact i booked through hotels.com as they will deduct fees anyways if they don’t approve. I asked if hotels.com contacted the hotel to confirm their approval would amara hotel accept to apply the cancellation policy and she confirmed. I called hotels.com and they called amara and they refused
