I reserved a Grand Room and I was told one good and one bad news when I arrived at 4pm for check-in: good news is, I was upgraded to a corner suite. Bad news is, I had to wait 20 mins for it. I accepted the offer and they gave me some drinks on the house but I waited 50 minutes instead of 20 - the room was magically ready when I arrived back at the reception and acted less patient, so my trip started with an hour delay (that hour is very valuable on a 1.5 day business trip).
When I arrived at the corner suite, it was clear someone had smoked there before although I ordered a non-smoking room. I didn't complain but I noted it down. The CD player and coffee machine were not working, only 1 of the 3 phones were operational and the temperature of the hot water was alternating from freezing cold to boiling hot. I didn't complain because I was in a rush to catch my meetings.
I ordered room service and the quality was average. Restaurants are amazing at Marriott but the room service is literally nothing more than average.
All in all, I could have had a much better stay at a decent room in another 5 start hotel in Bucharest for at least half the price so I am not going back there. PS: This is my second time and first time was not much better, either.
