We found Bromelias to be such a great place to stay. It had a much better location than the places in town because it was smack in a lush valley, allowing us to really enjoy nature (which is exactly why we went to Drake Bay in the first place). We had our own cabana and balcony (with hammock), our own bathroom and kitchen, and the price was really good. They have a washing machine you can use for free too. I had to ask how to use it, but the lady was so friendly and helpful, I was glad I asked. We saved a lot of money by having our own kitchen too. The cabana was a little rustic and definitely not fancy, but we really liked it. It had everything we needed and more. And we could tell they obviously constructed the place with care. One morning, we sat on our balcony while white-faced capuchin monkeys moved around in the trees immediately surrounding us. Two of them hung down so they were almost at eye level with us. It was amazing! This never would have happened if we had been staying at one of the accommodations along the street. There were so many gorgeous tropical birds and parrots too. We especially enjoyed watching a pair of mot mots who had a nest nearby. If you arrive after dark (or find you might be out until after dark), you will absolutely need a flashlight to navigate your way down into the valley from the road. It isn’t a long way, but it would be impossible to do in the dark. There are quite a few smaller grocery stores/convenience stores on the road.
