Nilani Hotel and Ratnapura town was not a destination, but a short stop on the way back to Colombo. The town is polluted, crowded and unattractive. The hotel is old and worn, with concrete floors and wardrobes that smell of insecticides. A bed net was provided and although it had several holes, it provided some protection. The bed was not that comfortable. Reading light was not good, and there was no desk or stands for the luggage. The hotel manager was very friendly and spoke excellent English. We had a view of several roofs. The restaurant served a variety of dishes and we were reasonably happy with what we got for the low prices. No alcohol on the menu.
