Historic lodge. My husband and I stayed for three nights in the three bedroom cabin, as it was the only place available at the time. There are not many options in this remote area. Despite its charm, there were some issues. There is peeling paint and exposed walls.
The area is very quiet, especially at night. There are heaters in all of the rooms, so we were warm enough.
We couldn’t get cell service on our phone, and the Wi-Fi was very unreliable. We couldn’t get the TV to work, so we went to the lobby to ask. We were told that it doesn’t work, but was left in the room for “aesthetics”. Two of the bedrooms have curtains instead of doors. The exposed hot water heater is in the hallway near the bathroom.
We thought that there was no hot water in the kitchen sink, until we discovered that the faucets were mislabeled, and reversed.
The beds were clean and comfortable, and there were enough blankets.
This has gotten many positive reviews. It depends on one’s expectations. It is probably acceptable for people who are used to camping and/or roughing it. We felt that it was not up to the standards of some of the other hotels and lodges where we stayed on our Alaska trip.
