I have travelled heavily throughout North America and Japan, and this is one of the best hotels I have EVER stayed in in my 60 years!!! It is spectacularly beautiful and chic. The conversion of this historic building into a hotel and residences is flawless. I honestly cannot believe they have not used this hotel as a film or television location for a noirish story. It is so unique. The staff was possibly the most flawless hotel staff I have ever encountered. The restaurant staff (Troy is so attentive, warm and welcoming-just an outstanding human!), the bar staff, the front desk staff, every doorman and valet parker-happy and unburdened, helpful in every way imaginable…I just could not get over it. There is clearly a genius in charge of hiring and management is obviously top notch because my mother and I were treated like royalty during the entirety of our stay. My housekeeping lady saw me struggling with my two cups of complimentary coffee and my room key-and jumped to my aid by opening my room door for me with a beautiful smile. I did not encounter a single thing that was not just perfect. How do they achieve this level of perfection?, I thought. The room service food was wonderful and the brunch we had in the restaurant was equally top level. The single fluffiest vegetable omelet with goat cheese and potatoes I have EVER HAD. Jalapeño corn bread made in a skillet that was also delicious…. These superlatives sound impossible-oh, I KNOW, but the truth is the truth here.
