I was disappointed in the reception desk staff. When I arrived to check in, the woman looked at me like I was interrupting her and I had to ask if I could check in. She gave me no greeting as I walked up to the desk. She checked me in with no enthusiasm for her job or warmth. Not the personality to have when you are in a client facing job. About 10 mins after checking in, I had the went back to the reception desk because I had forgotten to ask if a late check out was available. This time there was a different woman at the desk occupied with something. Again, this person gave no greeting as I approached the desk but just looked at me. I told her that I had forgotten to ask about a late check in. She replied flatly that it was going to be at least 10 minutes before she could access the computer because she was just starting her shift. She did not give me the impression that she cared to help at all. I said I would check back later and left. When I checked back she was friendlier, but that first encounter was unacceptable from someone whose literal job is to greet guests and make them feel welcome. On an operational note, I thought it odd that the reception desk staff would be changing shifts at 3pm, which is when check in begins. Seems like the hotel would want staff to be available to help guests consistently throughout the check in period.
Other than the poor reception desk service, my stay was good enough.
