So disappointed, hotel looked and was good, staff lived in a different world! No evening meal offered, although we were having breakfast there was none available and no staff until my partner saw a cleaner who didn’t know we were even staying and then no offer to make breakfast. Want to be reimbursed for the cost of two breakfasts.

A rather sad, tired looking pub. I think it was in the process of changing licensee and the poor chap behind the bar was run off his feet, serving drinks, doing the food orders, taking the food from the kitchen and clearing the tables. If more overnight guests had arrived, I expect he would have to have checked them in as well. It’s an old building and I need of a complete refurbishment, and also has very thin walls between the rooms. Our stay was only booked because I didn’t fancy the hour and a half’s drive home after walking round the antiques fair all day, but now regret booking it as we decided that we would get a better nights sleep at home because of the noise, so we packed up and drove home. As, I say, not the staffs fault, but even though it is reasonable priced, I couldn’t recommend this place to anyone.

Awful. We stayed here a few years ago and it was great. We stayed Friday night and it was awful. It was £100 for the night. The bathroom was disgusting. There was a boiler that woke us up every twenty minutes in the night with loud rattling and pipe noises and the ‘continental’ breakfast was embarrassing. Rice crispies, hovis bread and 49p jam with the price still on it. We complained and were told no one was available and they would contact us in a few hours. It’s now two days later and we have messaged and emailed.

The room was great, very clean, large and well appointed. We were greeted warmly on arrival where it was explained that a full breakfast was extra despite what was quoted online (and what we had chosen - and paid for). The manager did say that this error was not his fault and they were trying to get it corrected however it seems that the customer is being made to take responsibility for this. A continental breakfast is included however this consists only of cereal, toast and a bowl of fruit so does not actually mean breakfast, there was no yogurt, pastries or anything else so really a hot breakfast is required, at an additional cost. We did have a great sleep and the building is charming and staff friendly but unfortunately due to feeling overcharged I cannot give a better review. Errors with advertising should not be passed on to customers.

Front of house guy friendly & helpful. However there was no heating in our room on a cold weekend. Breakfast was supposed to be "continental" but all we got (left out in a back room) was cereal and toast!! Nothing had an opening date on it as per food hygiene regs.

From the outside the property is beautiful. Our room was clean, and relatively comfortable. The bar lady ‘Liv’ was amazing, couldn’t do enough to keep the customers happy. The interior is very run down, it could do with being updated. The furniture in the beer garden was very tired and some chairs were not suitable to sit on. Our evening meal was lovely. In the morning the included continental breakfast consisted of 3 choices of cereal and bread for toast. There was only a few mismatched bowls on the table and a few spoons chucked next to them. The bread was just placed next to the toaster, there was melted butter in a bowl for all to use, the jam was also in a bowl. The coffee was loose in a bowl, some tea bags, and no sugar. The cooked breakfast that my husband had was really good. There was only the chef there and he came across quite rude when asked for sugar etc. I had my toast in a bowl as there was no plates. It really is a shame as it looked such a lovely place, it was by far the worst place we have stayed.

The food was very limited, all frozen rubbish. Expedia advertised breakfast, no breakfast included. The rooms were dirty. Ours was obviously over the kitchen as it smelt of dirty cooking fat. You could hear the people talking in the next bedroom. The bed was really small and you rolled into the middle.

Bed had been changed & that was it! Waste basket full, no replacement of tea, coffee, etc. Previous guests towels, bathroom not cleaned. Shower not working along with the 'sink light', fan & main light intermitant
