This is an icon in Bala. Very old hotel & shows it. Walking distance to everything which is what we wanted. Coffee or tea was available at front area which was good. Staff was amazing. Place is very clean We were very happy.

The room is very shady, no sufficient lighting, there is voice coming from the room beside and people walking upstairs.There was cockroach in the washroom cabinet I wouldn't recommend, not worth the price

I love this old beauty, she is full of character and the staff are super nice and helpful. The rooms are very clean but basic and may or may not have air conditioning or a fan. A great place to stay when going g to a concert at the Kee.

Bala is the bomb. Close to the Kee for a fun show night out. Includes the beer spa too and fro. The rooms are super basic - a comfy crash pad. The staff are all cool and the vibe is chill. Will be back.

It’s a place to crash when going to the Key. It could be a real gem but it needs work, the sign out front is looking for investors. Note *there are no dressers, tables or cupboards to put bags or your belongings on. It’s a bed with a tiny night stand and a tv. If they invested a small amount into the basics, this place could be so much better.

Free parking but room not ready at 4:30. No restaurant open and no wifi. Room doors do not shut tight - noisy hallways. Nobody at desk before 12 noon and after 6pm. Front door not locked - very unsafe feeling here.

The location of Bala Bay inn is great if you are attending a concert at the Kee. The room is fairly clean but the finishings are very run down. The carpets are old and don’t feel clean. The bathroom has a renovated tub/shower/floor but the little details are lacking. The hooks have fallen off the wall and not been replaced. There is no furniture to put your toiletries, phone or clothes on. There is no rail in the closet and the luggage rack is broken. The door to the room has to be pushed firmly to close properly. The bedding is very poor. I visited in October and needed to put a track suit over my pajamas to sleep comfortably because the duvet was so thin and no extra blanket was provided. I would stay here again to see a concert but that is the only reason.

There was no shower curtain in the room. Cleaning staff was gone by 4:30pm for the day. They did not change our room the same day. They offered for us to go another the next morning to shower. There were no glasses or cups in the room. Pillows were very thin. The mattress was good though. I would not stay there again until they renovate.

This is an excellent place to stay when we attend concerts at the Kee to Bala. It's fun and a relaxed fun environment within walking distance. The staff is always amazing when we come.

No bedside table or any table to put sleep apnea machine on. No outlet to plug it in. No dresser no closet to hang anything. Fell through the bed...slats not attached. Sheets would not stay on bed.

The location is great for attending concerts at the Kee to Bala. The staff at the hotel and the Muskoka Beer spa (same owner for both) were both incredibly helpful and friendly. However, the price of the room does not reflect the quality of the room. There was a portable AC unit in our room which worked great for keeping the room cool but it might bother you with the noise so it’s something to consider. I over heard from other guest that their room didn’t have any AC, I was thankful that ours did. The pillows and bedding were so thin we might as well not have at any. There are other little things I could complain about (the quality of the fixures - bathroom hooks that are stick on) but they are generally all tolerable things. Overall my biggest complaint is the price of the room. I would just expect more from $350 a night.

We had a great one night stay - in Bala for a concert at The Kee. Rooms are not generally air conditioned but we lucked out with one. Clean and well taken care of. Would definitely stay again but would insist on an air conditioner!

Worst hotel experience ever. The lack of basics like a dresser or a table or a closet. And you can't put your things on the floor because the portable AC unit in the room is causing a puddle in the carpet. If you try hanging your stuff on the little command hooks on the walls, they'll fall and take a chunk of drywall with them. There was a TV but no remote. There was trash under the bed. The decorations on the wall were damaged. No fridge, so bring a cooler, but be prepared to haul it up 3 flights. The lighting is very dim in the room. The only good thing is location and access to the Beer spa. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. The room was very expensive in my opinion. I was expecting luxury. Not a slum

This property shouldn’t be for rent! We paid $300 plus tax and it was worth $75 It was like staying in a Hostel The room had no where to put or hang clothes. A garage sale chair and an ikea still table as a bedside table. And only one! No plugs accessible near the bed for chargers or apnea machine. Not even any plastic cups in the washroom for water or a hair dryer supplied The main light was a lightbulb on a cord hanging from a hook on the ceiling. I have stayed in many small motels across Ontario on trips and this is the absolute worst !! The front desk staff know the issues and were so apologetic but could do nothing. It’s a management issue not staffing. And to top it off there was some type of ac unit or compressor budding all night below our room to drive us crazy. My advice. Don’t book here
