You feel like you’re entering a compound, with a black iron fence/gate that is closed at night, and you need to request access to leave or re-enter after certain hours. Every person in our family was required to provide ID, even our child, which I’ve never encountered before. There’s a big bible prominently on display on the front desk, and there are multiple signs about it being a “drug free zone”, which I’m assuming is the cause of why they’re so strict and keep this place on lockdown 24/7.
The room smelled ”stale” or of old smoke. There was a filthy top cover on the bed, with stains and burn holes in it, even though there’s no smoking allowed in the rooms. It felt like they’ve been around for decades and don’t get washed. Other than the top cover, there was only a flat sheet, so we needed to unpack our own blankets. The bed skirts were torn and filthy looking, just hanging off the boxspring. Towels were stained and nothing matched. The air conditioner provided no cooling, only white noise. The curtains didn’t fully close and covered the A/C. My daughter went to grab a cup of water and said the paper cups provided looked dirty. I never went into the dining area, but my husband did and then refused to consider staying for the complimentary breakfast and we left as early as we could.
Overall, this place feels sketchy and unclean. You can tell they’re trying to improve on whatever this place was before, but they have a long way to go. We felt scrutinized and unwelcome.
