We spent 5 marvelous nights. Since we weren’t willing to drive ourselves, it was an ideal alternative as it provided a shuttle from Windhoek directly to the lodge. The veranda offers a great view at sunset, the rooms are spacious (if a little cold in the winter), the food is excellent, you can spot some wildlife right at the lodge (we saw giraffes, zebras and a baboon) and have an amazing view of the milky way at night. The game drives are done in comfy vehicles, with blankets and drinks provided and most guides are great (would ask for Petrus, Dumba or Richard). Since you’re staying outside the park, you have to wait for sunrise to enter, but the guides still do their best to search for the big cats (and we did see some cats every day we were there). It is far more expensive to do the morning and afternoon drives than the allday one but we‘d recommend it because if you miss the cats in the morning, your chances are better towards sunset (the allday drive returns around 3pm). In the winter, it does get extremely cold, so bring winter gear! The staff were lovely and helpful and even sang for the guests. Ideally, we would have liked the option to take a shuttle to the other Gondwana property and see another corner of Etosha but the park is big and we saw many different routes even staying by the Anderson gate. Many thanks to the receptionists, guides, chefs, waiters! We really cherished our time there! (PS: please make the Gondwana fleece jackets available for sale in the shop)
