Front reception was lacking in friendliness and efficiency upon arrival. Dark haired woman was befuddled by my request to have an early check in at 14:05 v. 15:00. She said she would have to reach out to the extensive housekeeping team and made it seem like quite an imposition. I waited for 10 minutes and she never approached me with an answer. It was very strange. I had to approach her, whereby she gleefully informed me that check in was at 15:00 and my room was not ready.
Aside from that glitch, the young gentleman who helped us with our bags was very friendly and provides excellent service. The room was old, but very nice and steeped in Irish history. Michael Collins, one of the leaders of the Irish Liberation Movement, who was assassinated, stayed there. The room was clean. The sheets could have had a fresher scent.
The breakfast was very nice. We had porridge and fresh fruit. The porridge was more like what we make every morning at home in Connecticut. The gluten free bread was poor. It was one of those pre-packaged Schaar brands.
We enjoyed our stay. I would definitely recommend this hotel.
