My wife and I are pretty pragmatic travelers who typically only need a clean, comfortable place to stay with minimal frills but practical amenities. The Hotel Le Stelle is probably one of the worst hotels we've stayed at in all our years of traveling.
First, the good: we did not have any issues with the electronic self check in (though there's no one to help if any issues arise). The location is superb, right off Hirschenplatz, a couple min walking from the Reuss River, and less than 10 min walking from Lucerne Central Station.
The bad: our room was tiny, old, and unkempt. There was no AC, and the tiny table fan could hardly provide any ventilation. Opening the windows only helped at night after things had cooled down, but our room faced other buildings and had almost no natural circulation. The ceiling lights were dim and actually stopped working on our second night. There were hooks in the bedroom but no hooks in the bathroom for hanging things. There was a yellow sink stain in the bathroom, questioning how well they clean here. There were limited and poorly placed electrical outlets, no desk, no stand by the bed, and limited space for our belongings.
We had limited options when booking for the price range we were looking for, but it's not like this hotel would be considered economical. Even if it was, it was a terrible stay other than the location.
Also, the so-called offered luggage storage in the restaurant downstairs is in plain view, no secure room. Misleading!
