Arrived half an hour early for check in, Olga advised us that our room wasn’t ready and to come back at 2:00pm. When we arrived back at 2:00pm, Olga advised that she was waiting for the approval from management that the room was ready and to give her a few minutes while she called someone for approval. While we were waiting, Olga’s co-worker looked confused and asked Olga, why we were waiting for so long and why didn’t she check us in? Olga said that management said for us to wait. I’m assuming since we were Canadian and spoke English, they assumed we didn’t understand Italian. The whole process seemed a little off to us as the hotel was not busy at all and there was only one other additional couple checking in at the same time as us. Room was clean but very outdated and had barely any wall plugs available. We also needed to sleep with the window open because it was super hot and stuffy. After spending the night, while getting ready to leave in the morning. Cleaning staff were very pushy to get us out before 11:00am to clean our room. They were fiddling with the door handle multiple times and asked us multiple times if we were finished in there yet. Area surrounding the property is not very pleasant - abandoned buildings, industrial parks and lots of graffiti. We would not return to the property or recommend to anyone if ever visiting Verona again.
