Our stay at this hotel had a rough start but turned out well in the end. We arrived late, around 9 PM, and the check-in process was extremely awkward. The employee at the front desk ignored us for an uncomfortably long time before finally acknowledging our presence. When I said we were checking in, she simply stated, “We aren’t checking anyone in right now,” with no further explanation. I had to ask multiple follow-up questions, and her answers were vague and unhelpful. At that point, I was seriously considering finding another hotel, (even though I already paid for this reservation) especially since we had to be up at 5 AM.
Eventually, she mentioned that the manager was on the phone and might have answers. Thankfully, the manager was much more helpful and had a printout with available rooms and a hand-drawn room layout. It turns out they had a power outage, and the employees didn’t know how to get the system back online.
Once we were assigned a room, we were escorted and let in manually since they couldn’t issue key cards. From that point on, everything improved. The room smelled fresh and clean, the beds were comfortable, and I appreciated having a flatter pillow option rather than just the overly full ones that can be hard on the neck.
We grabbed breakfast right when it opened. Most of it was delicious, though I’m never a fan of the powdered eggs—is anyone?
Overall, the check-in experience was frustrating and unprofessional, but the actual stay was good. Improve trng.
