I want to thank the valets, because everyone we encountered on that part of the staff was friendly, courteous, and efficient. The front desk staff seemed to feel slightly annoyed at being interrupted by us each time we approached and gave us incorrect info about some things. The security guys were downright surly. Our room was beautiful, comfortable, and well-appointed, but also had uneaten food in someone else's to-go box left behind in there. On a weekend night, the noise of cars, yelling, and music was unrelenting from the streets outside until at least 2 a.m. The world on the streets outside the hotel is a totally different one from the world inside the hotel. I know the hotel staff can't control the surrounding area, but understand that nightclubs, a gentlemen's club (directly across the street), and a casino are the distinctive features of the area. If that is what you are going there for and you plan to stay up all night, then this might be where you want to stay. It wasn't for us and in the past we have enjoyed downtown hotels with a welcoming, hosting-us-as-guests-in-the-city type vibe. This is not that.
