Let me start by saying that the owner, Cindy, was very sweet and helpful. But, this property is not what's advertised. Every website I visited has the property listed as My Sarasota Getaway. When you get there, the sign says Nokomis Inn and Suites. I reserved the Executive Suite, and when I arrived, the owner said it was already reserved for a month. She gave me a smaller room in a section of the property that had several seemingly long-term residents. They had old lounge chairs, tables, dishes and ash trays outside their rooms, and the residents spent most of the day and all night hanging out by their doors, shouting down the corridor at one another and letting dogs bark. The view from the room was an old dirt lot. There are very few parking spots on the property.
The website boasts a cozy lobby, and an onsite deli. When you arrive, you're greeted by a locked door telling you to call the owner. She answered right away, and got us to our room, but she said they didn't actually have a lobby. She also told us that they intended to have food, but never got a food license.
The rooms are cute and clean, but kind of run down. The pool itself was nice, but the photos show hammocks around the pool area, which weren't there.
The location of the property is great. Very close to the beach, minutes away from downtown Venice, and walking distance to fast food and convenience stores.
Although this property is quite affordable, it's disappointing not to get what you sign up for.
