When we arrived, we were first given an isolated room in the back of the motel on the 2nd floor overlooking what appeared to be a small junkyard. The curtains were too short for the window, the room was in general neglect, and most importantly, the heater, whose grate was encased with at least a few years of lint, didn't work. Rm. 229.
When we requested a different room, the manager gave us a suite in a different building that was nicely maintained and clean, at no additional cost.
He was working with a skeleton crew which appeared to consist of just himself, so it was understandable that he was reluctant to leave the desk to get us a box of kleenex or some hand soap.
Breakfast was from 7-9. We arrived at 8:30 to find very little left to choose from, and no one there to assist with making sure there was adequate food until 9:00.
Don't know why we were first given, what I hope, was the worst room in the motel, when there appeared to be an abundance of vacancies, but we don't blame the manager for the lack of service. It's the lazy staff who apparently bailed on an off-season weekend.
