Expectations weren’t high but were fully met. Check in was efficient, instruction received in SMS. Impression was of very meticulous proprietor, written instructions were all around the place … everywhere there was a space, there were random notes.
This set the tone of the proprietor, who kept up throughout any interaction. Terse, firm and bossy, in the spirit of Basil Fawlty.
Our room was tidy and clean, with a spray-scent atmosphere. Found an automatic “perfume” dispenser spreading noxious “flowery” scent, managed to disable, after 15 minutes with open windows the room was tolerable.
Fittings were generally functioning, only a few light bulbs were off, the shower head holder was dysfunctional, but could be wedged to keep in place.
In the morning the first sentence from proprietor’s mouth was “Hello” – brief and to the point. Second sentence was tirade about leaving the backyard door open. A waste of heating yes … but really … I’m your (paying) guest, not your forgetful husband.
Returning the key at check-out, the proprietor was behind her computer and two signs, one with her full name, a bit much for a single staff hotel, the other reading “Big Boss”, subtle and to the point. She broke of her phone call with a terse remark “the key shall be left in the door as it is stated on the note” … right - sorry - got the point … whereupon she continued her phone call, annoyed at being bothered by my tedious behavior and lack of sign reading skills.
First, only and last stay!
