Nice stay

A very nice place to stay. We loved the garden, like a little oasis for the high temperature in Selcuk! The staff was very friendly and helpful.

The two owners, Nazmi and Erdal, are gracious, generous and experienced hoteliers and made our stay at Hotel Nilya and Selçuk/Ephesus a wonderful experience. We appreciated the advice and assistance they gave us, the breakfast and the extensive collection of Ottoman art a decor throughout.

The owners and staff were courteous, thoughtful, and helpful beyond expectations. The room was beautifully decorated and cleaned daily. Incredible artwork throughout the hotel. Breakfast was delicious. Highly recommend Nilya to all travelers.

Nice character property, on a quiet street. Very close to St John's Basilica and the Castle. 10 mins walk from the train or bus. Friendly place, nice breakfast, in a shady courtyard garden. . Really helpful to get a lift to Ephesus top entrance after breakfast. Only a white curtain at the window meant it was very light for sleeping unfortunately.

Good choice

We had a great stay, the hotel is well located and clean. It is close to Ephesus. We had our own car, but the manager offered us free transportation to Ephesus. We parked easily on the street. To improve the experience, I suggest breakfast service starts before 8am. Our main goal was to reach Ephesus at opening time (8am) to escape the crowds.

A wonderful boutique hotel in the old part of the city. The hosts/owners are amazing, very helpful and take the time to help you with anything. They even drove us to Ephesus and picked us up. Breakfast was very good and plentiful. Highly recommend this place to stay.

Super stay close to so much history

The hotel is a superb Turkish style, very eclectic and well looked after. The hosts are brilliant and will provide you with information about the history of the area and the many hidden treasures. Location is a short distance (walk) to the castle and St John’s basilica, the Virgin Mary’s house is 5k away and Ephesus is a short drive. Plenty of places to eat in the town but don’t miss the breakfast. Definitely come back on the way home

Wonderful experience!

This will be one of the hotel experiences we will always remember, not just for the lovely accommodations but for the beyond amazing people and service. This will be one of the best memories from our trip to Türkiye.

We stayed in their suit room for 3 people. Rooms were very clean, elegantly decorated, had A/C, rain shower head in a large shower area. Healthy breakfasts were served in the garden under green canopy. The hotel is run by two families, very safe and high quality establishment. Hand carved wooden furniture everywhere, hand-woven woolen ornaments and hand painted Turkish tile artwork, miniature pictures on the walls in the rooms. Owners are very helpful from giving information about the area, calling taxis as needed, to dropping us to Ephesus city entrance, even thinking about providing us cushions for the opera night at the Ephesus antique amphitheater for the Ephesus Ballet and Opera Festival. They served us tea in the balcony when we arrived from road all tired. Location is walking distance to St. John's Basilica, Selcuk castle and Arthemis Temple (one of the ancient seven wonders site). three km. distance to Ephesus antique city. There are cafes a ND some food options around in walking distance. Definitely our stay in Selcuk for all next time!

Good stay overall

Great place to stay, Wi-Fi was good and so was breakfast with eggs cooked to order. A little disappointed that we were unable to ‘check-in’ until after 3pm when they advertise from 2pm. That said, I would recommend this place as it is nice and quiet.

Turkish Hospitality at its Best

From the moment we arrived the hosts did their best to make us feel happy and welcome in Selçuk. It was an experience my wife and I will never forget. By far the best place we stayed while traveling through Turkey.

Excellent Choice, Service, and Location for Sites

The communication, welcome, offerings, and staff at the Nilya were all excellent. From the arrangements for transportation from Kusadasi, to our check in, breakfast, drinks during the day, shuttle to Ephesus and Cave of the Seven Sleepers, or anywhere else we wanted to see, were all top notch. The dinner at the sister Hotel Bella was excellent and reasonably priced, with a great view of the town and surrounding mountains, or the St.John's Basilica site. Thanks to all the staff for one of our most enjoyable stays during our 5 weeks in Turkey.

8/10 Very good

Unique beautiful hotel. The owners are friendly and chatty. Will give you tons of information about Ephesus and the area, and provided a complementary drop off and pick up to and from the site. The included breakfast was simple, but delicious. Lots of fruit, jams, and breads. We stayed during a hot humid few days and the rooms don't have the best circulation, makes sleeping without AC at night difficult. All the rooms have AC.
Phil, 3-night trip

Fantastic family run place goes above and beyond for you. They helped me arrange a tour guide for Ephesus and even provided free transportation to and from the site. They loaned us a guidebook to use around town and gave recommendations on what to do and where to eat. The owner pointed us towards a local market that we would have never found on our own. The hotel itself is charming, filled with interesting decor. The owner also runs a shop if you want to purchase similar items to take home with you. Neighborhood is nice and quiet. Breakfast was five star--loads of fruit, jams, bread, coffee/tea, and eggs to order. All around, HUGE value for the price. I've never gotten such good service from any hotel anywhere. I highly recommend and I will definitely stay there again if I'm in the area.
Andrea, 1-night trip

4/10 Fair

There was no kettle, tea or coffee in the room and no bottles water. The first room we were given had a terrible smell and when we complained the second room was freezing. Not a pleasant place.

10/10 Exceptional

Great hotel, beautiful courtyard

We had a great time here, the courtyard was beautiful to sit in, the breakfast was excellent, particularly the hot eggs, be sure to try the fried version with hot pepper....room very comfortable, service was quite good. The free car service to the sites like Ephesus, Sirince, the House of St Mary, and the train station (also walkable) was very convenient. The restaurant on the top floor of the associated Bella Hotel is very good and reasonably priced, and the view of St Johns and the storks is precious. We did not feel any pressure to eat here but did so anyway twice during our stay, the mezze were well done, as were the main dishes. We noticed that some other reviews mention that the owner also runs a rug and ceramics shop and they felt pressure to buy. We did not experience this pressure, but we did agree to listen to the sales pitch on the rugs, which was quite interesting, though we did not buy, and there was no pressure. We did buy some fantastic ceramics at a good price, recommend checking out ceramics, the owner has a special artist, and also has relations with other miniature artists who also do other drawings. We bought one excellent drawing of Istanbul that we liked and we got a package deal with the ceramics and they packed it up very nicely for transport. All in all this was a great place, highly recommended...
