Clean well maintained place! We had very comfortable stay. A great place for family to stay. The breakfast is very convenient to start the day especially going to the park.

This was such a great place to stay. Very clean and quiet and not far from Denali. The staff was so nice and theres a great BBQ food truck just down the road. Highly recommend and would stay here again!

The room was very clean and comfortable. I never met the staff personally, but they arranged for me to get my key late past check in time and I dropped off my key at check out. The breakfast was okay, decent slection of fruits, pastries, cereal, breads, etc. There was a little mouse running around the kitchen but he wasn't bothering anyone. Overall I'd recommend this hotel.

Don't let the outside appearance discourage you from staying at Cantwell Lodge. The rooms were clean, new, and comfortable albeit a bit tight.

Not a cabin as advertised, a room literally the size of a large closet, bait & switch! The lady running the place did her best, but you can't make a silk purse out of a cesspool as they say. Do your self a favor and avoid anything in Cantrell Alaska!

Didn’t realize the room was only big enough for the bed. Had to walk hallway to use a shared bathroom with other guests it had a couple washer and dryers most were broken and couldn’t use as the owner was doing all the bed sheets and towels

We had a great stay at Cantwell Cabin. It's a cute little cabin in a very convenient location, making it an excellent base for exploring the area. The cabin comfortably accommodated our group of four and was a perfect place to relax and sleep after a day of adventures. Cynthia was very helpful, responsive, and made the stay easy and enjoyable. The only minor inconvenience was that the restroom and shower facilities are located in the main hotel building, so you need to walk over to use them. Other than that, we had a pleasant experience and would recommend it to anyone looking for a simple, cozy place to stay in Cantwell.

This place was good for spending the night when we traveled to Denali. It was only about 30 minutes from the visitor center. The cabin doesn't have running water and you have to walk to the main building for the bathrooms which wasn't a big deal. The main building is under construction so it doesn't have a lot of amenities but the owner was very helpful and provided us with water for our cabin. The only thing that wasn't good was it's right next to railroad tracks that 2 trains came by blowing their horns at 1:30am and 3:30am.

This place is better than it looks. Outside rundown but interiors were updated and cozy. The host had continental breakfast and beautiful mountain views, with stream adjacent to the property and a beautiful train track. You will hear the train at night but its not disruptive. Access to restaurants is limited and gas prices at Vitus (nearby gas station) are expensive, at least $2/gal more than average in Alaska.

I never ended up staying here because when I arrived, there was no one to be found no way of getting in touch with anyone. It was in the middle of nowhere very rundown and scary one little cabin to the side which I’m not even sure if someone was living in it or not the main building where there might’ve been a bar at one time was full of trash and Abandoned. This should not even be on hotels.com or any other website it has to be one of the worst places I have ever seen very scary

Every now and then I find a gem off the beaten path. Cantwell Cabins was fantastic. My family was greeted with a room so fresh that the painters tape still lined the door frame. Breakfast was superb with fruits and something homemade, like quiche, along with the standard breakfast cereals and yogurts. There was internet access and no TV (for us that's a strong positive). Sheets and blankets were clean. Staff was very helpful. Everything was great.

Property was not yet open. rooms we were shown would not have been acceptable in a homeless shelter. Restaurant & bar was not open though was advertised.. Entire place was a dump & we refused to stay there & demanded a refund.

First of all, Cynthia was very helpful. She explained everything that we needed to know and you could tell our little cabin was well cared for. When I booked this I did not realize the cabin is a dry cabin and it is in the parking lot of an old closed down bar. We did have our own bathroom inside the old bar. This is definitely not your traditional stay. I'm not saying avoid because it worked out fine for us-just be aware of what you are paying for. Also, there is an active railroad track very close and the trains do blow their horns in the middle of the night. Since we stayed in the summer and it didn't get dark, it wasn't a big deal to walk across the parking lot to use the restroom but it would be creepy during a time of year it gets dark.

How this place received a 8 rating is beyond me. There are no euphemisms to substitute for plain language in this case; this venue is a dump. The “front desk” was non-existent. When I arrived, I had to yell out, “is anyone here?” The main lodge looked like one big trash heap; nothing like the posted pictures. Checking the continental breakfast on our the last morning, there was a plate covered with foil with a sign card that said “quiche made fresh 7/4/26.” The problem was it was set out on 7/5 (I have photos of everything). Bottom line, if you are desperate for a place to stay inside, you can book here. Otherwise, spend the money to stay somewhere else more reputable.

Do not stay here. My room had no hot water, so showering was miserable. It also had no AC, making the room unbearably hot. When I brought this up, the owner told me to just open the door for cool air, and said they don’t have much capacity for hot water, basically admitting the problem instead of fixing it. On top of that, the booking was non-refundable, so I was stuck paying full price for a room that didn’t even have basic amenities working. Avoid.

Staff was helpful. Hotels.com directions to hotel were wrong. Google search for cantwell cabins got us on to the correct location. Breakfast was nice. A good combination of fresh fruit and basic breakfast options.

Strange

This place was not what I was expecting at all. When i got there, the guy running it took me in through the back. Just about all the lights were off. He was turning them on when we walked through the whole building. He told me it was because electricity is expensive and they are trying to save money. The room was like attached to a shut down/run down bar and restaurant. The feeling of the place was like, "i hope this isnt a serial killer's home and I'm being lured in". There is supposed to be a continental breakfast but nothing had been prepared before I left. He told me he was dealing with family issues and had over slept. Just a very strange motel experience and i would not stay here again.
