Check in was fine. Went into our room, was blistering hot, I'd say 75 degrees F or higher. Turned thermostat all the way down, went to do the lobby/bar. Great bar tender had an awesome burger, he recommended Le Roux for dinner which was fabulous.
Back to the room, still incredibly warm, figured it might need more time to cool down. Quickly realized that this hotel is built around a pool, and that our room was 30ft from the pool, filled with screaming kids. Killed a little time in the room, then went out to dinner.
Came back, no parking to be had at the hotel, went inside and they told us to park at another lot, that was also full, so we were left with a parking lot that was a 10-15 minutes away in pouring rain. Back to our room, still ungodly warm, not something that could be slept in, this was around 8:00 PM, immense amounts of noise, screaming kids still, etc. We were up for the night after going to a local spa and were just looking for peace and quiet which we absolutely were not going to get so we decided to leave since it was a reasonable 2 hour drive home and assumed we'd rather just sleep in our own bed.
Wife stopped by the front desk, explained the situation hoping maybe we could even get a partial refund for the few hours we were checked in, explaining the reasons. They said no, and said we should have known to stay elsewhere if we wanted something quieter. As if we were supposed to know the hotel is built around a pool and super noisy. Front desk guy was a dick!
