The parking situation is unusual. Very confusing for a senior to figure it out. We parked in a garage across from the hotel, but found out that it was not the hotels parking structure. After lugging our bags across the street from the parking lot, I asked about compensation for the cost of the parking lot that we parked at, we were told we’d have to move our car to a different parking lot and they would cover that cost.
Check in was supposed to be at 3. we were told there was an incident and that it may be a little bit later. when we arrived at 3:30 we were told that the room is still not ready, and they didn’t know when it would be. Again we weren’t offered any compensation for that, in fact when I asked if there would be, the customer service agent asked “who would be compensating you”
Maybe I should’ve looked more closely at the details of the hotel and asked more questions about parking.
This was our first time visiting Grand Rapids and it was a very busy time.
The hotel was very clean and our room was very comfortable. We loved it. I think that the check-in agent could’ve been more empathetic and could’ve offered compensation for our inconvenience.
