Historical charm
This is a unique hotel – a villa built by a wealthy family in the late 19th century, with its historical charm preserved down to the finest detail. We had a room with a balcony and a stunning view of the Santa Margherita.
But it’s important to understand that this is not a five-star hotel in terms of the service typically associated with that rating. For example, there is an extra charge of €20 for check-ins after 7:30 PM, and €50 for check-ins between 9 and 11 PM. Because there is no 24-hour service.
It’s also apparently essential to fill out a form the day before specifying your breakfast preferences—even for the limited basic option—which we failed to do. This was not appreciated. The reason given is to reduce food waste, though it comes across as greenwashing.
It’s also worth noting that trains pass relatively close by, which might be an issue for light sleepers. Personally, we didn’t find it particularly disturbing.
