Accommodation was just above disgusting
This room felt like it was a decorated prison cell. The photos look fine, but once you walk in.... eww. I think this might be how the 3rd world lives. I decided to stay because the sheets didn't look stained and the mattress and pillows were okay - but more fundamentally because I was not travelling with my wife and children (we would have left and found something else, or driven through the night if they had accompanied me)
I knew I wouldn't be washing in the morning because the tub was horribly stained. The fixtures were loose, the towel racks were looks.
Check out the photos to see basic grime on the primary light switch. And garbage left in room, and easily washable dirt and stains.
The white walls were "blotchy" with stained and maybe a very inconsistent cover up of paint? The newer floor was obviously installed over a rotted, waffling floor. Excess paint was on fixtures. There was garbage left in spaces in the room. The toilet seat (next to a damaged, stained wall) was meant for a different sized toilet bowl.
The sad thing is that with just a bit of care, cleaning, some paint and repair, this would be a perfectly acceptable space.
I felt that the owners / operators just didn't care very much. Again, this did not feel like it is maintained to north American standards. Take 10 minutes a day of effort to do a bit more work on these rooms and it will add up over time!
Based on this experience I will never stay at a Motel 6 anywhere again.
