Tip Top Motel Cafe & Bakery

Needed a place for one night by the airport. The room resembled my dorm room which was fine when I was 18. Guess I'm a bit soft now. Wouldn't want to stay for more than the 8 hours i tolerated it for.

Looking at the pictures when I booked the room, I knew it wasn't going to be anything fancy. Still, I was a little sketched out. There was nothing major that was wrong with the room, just a couple of small things. For one, the room didn't have a fridge or microwave so that kind of dictated how we ate (no leftovers allowed). It's also an old building, which I can appreciate, but the windows are not updated. So while the screens helped keep bugs out, the old-style roller panels didn't do anything for the sounds. Lastly, despite us having the "Do Not Disturb" sign on our door, someone has come in to change the WiFi signage (there was a paper with the new passcode) on the TV. This could have been taped to or slid under the door, instead. This made us feel uncomfortable. Despite these things, the room was sufficient for what we needed - a place to sleep. The majority of our time was spent outside exploring the island so a fancy room wasn't a need. The food downstairs in the cafe was pretty great, though - probably the best Loco Moco we had during our entire trip! All this being said, if you need a place to stay and aren't too fussy about the details - Tip Top will work just fine.

Great motel!

Very clean and well maintained for a motel. It was the cheapest we could find on the island and we were well aware its a motel not a hotel. So we didnt expect anything great but this was by far the best motel I've ever stayed in! (haven't stayed in many motels but still..). Comfort wise, i wish it had a bit of carpeting rather than office style cold tiles but that's a super minor thing. We knew we would be out and about most of the time and this was just a space to come back to sleep. We were able to take some towels to the beach etc with us too. It was a bit hard to return/rent towels at front desk thought bc of their limited hours. Just be sure to return every thing and keep them undamaged otherwise they will charge an obsurd amount. (its written in the confirmation email) Overall, it did the job and nothing grossed us out! And the restaurant connected to the front office is known to be excellent according to the locals there. It was packed just about every night!

In my 80 years this is the worst motel ever. Concrete block windowless cell. No amenities.

I liked that it was very ready to get to and from when traveling around the island. It's centrally located on the main (and only) highway that takes you from one ends to another. And the Cafe is perfect for a quick breakfast.

Your basic motel but is located at an excellent local restaurant. The motel is exactly a mile away from the airport and has all the creature comforts. My room was a king bed with a lot or room. There is no bathtub but a good shower. AC is by window unit not central air. Would recommend if all you are looking for is a place to crash.
