Strange place, close to the 401. Arriving late after a long drive, the man at the front desk was friendly. Had booked for 3 nights, as we were in the area for 3 days & really just needed a place to sleep. The online photos did not match our room. As soon as we entered we knew that it was in need of deep cleaning. The blankets looked as if they hadn't been washed in years & had grimy embedded stains. Pulling back the sheets, revealed hairs in 1 of the beds, so we immediately stripped both & requested clean sheets, which they were happy to give us & apologetic about the others. The towels, though washed, had seen better days & retained the residue of greasy hands & heavy use. The entire room was dirty, there were sticky substances on many surfaces & the fridge was also in need of cleaning. Luckily we always travel with disinfectant wipes these days. By the 2nd night, it was clear that this is a place where many construction/road workers stay. Each evening the parking lot is filled with tailgating work crews, bbq-ing, listening to music & emptying beers. They shut down by 11pm & are friendly enough but it was a bit funny to exit each morning with 100s of cigarette butts strewn about & empty beer cans lining each of the window sills... even our own room. I get it- the workers are the motel's main clientele & they probably don't have other guests staying for more than a night. Napanee is actually a pretty nice town & worth a visit. Stay for 1 night only, if you must. Bring wipes!
