Grand Park Otaru

ホテル自体は綺麗です。隣にAEONがあって便利なんでしょうが、早く閉まるので夕飯の前しかお買い物はできないです。ところどころ臭いが気になりました。シーツは問題ないんですが、浴衣（シティホテルなのに浴衣…）が古い臭いがしたり、ユニットバスのカーテンが次の朝濡れて臭ったり。そこだけが残念でした。でもそれ以外はしっかりと清潔感あるので、概ね良いです。

I stayed a Japanese style room at low floor, but enjoyed nice view.

The staff was extremely polite but the Japanese/English barrier was very difficult at times. I’ll admit, I could have done better at learning more Japanese but I would assume the hotel would staff more people with basic English abilities. Outside of a room to stay in there was nothing else the hotel had to offer. The food was way overpriced and mediocre, I’d recommend eating in town. Then there was the smell in the hotel room. It smelled exactly like my 98yr old grandmother's retirement home. It wasn’t appealing, it was gross. It is nicely located right next to the Otaruchikko stop of the train station so getting in and out was easy. If I end up returning to Otaru, I’ll find another hotel.

Staffs were very helpful. Bathroom, especially shower, could use an update or renovation since it had unpleasant order

Super good value for money. Incredibly friendly and gracious staff. It’s my favorite hotel in otaru and the best place to stay if you’re heading to Kiroro.

Beds are so outdated and not comfortable at all. We’ve been request to change the room and still same really bad bed. Moved to third room which was Japanese style room, floor was not clean, I spied number of hairs laying on the floor and it was smoking floor.. smell so bad whole floor. Massager was smoker as well and he smell awful when I get massage service. Manager at hotel was very rude about changing the room.

Near immediate access to the JR Otaruchikko Station is a perk for this place; it's roughly a 30 minute transit between it and JR Sapporo Station. You can even make your way there through the indoor shopping center the hotel is connected to from instead of walking on the street outside the hotel if you're worried about the weather (at least from 10 AM to 8 PM). The electrical outlets were plentiful enough (one on the desk and four or so on the wall), but they're limited to 2-prong plugs and maybe limited power-wise by Japan's voltage ranges, so you may require an adapter/transformer for your electronics. The WiFi may also seem to be region locked to Japan, so if you're trying to access non-Japanese sites, you may require using a VPN or something to redirect your traffic. The laundry is an in-house service rather than a DIY coin laundry machine set; not sure if there's a charge for it since I didn't use it or ask about it.
