My husband and I stayed at HS Madrid Centro Atocha for one night, choosing this hotel for its convenient location near the train station and its quiet surroundings. However, our experience was disappointing due to the reception staff's lack of hospitality. Upon our arrival, the receptionist greeted us without a smile and displayed an unwelcoming attitude. Her strong accent (when speaking English) made it difficult for us to understand her, leading us to ask her to repeat herself, which seemed to frustrate her and resulted in rudeness.
The design of the bathroom was unconventional, with a single door for both the toilet and shower area. Additionally, the elevated shower led to water spilling onto the floor, which could potentially flood the living room.
The room was quite basic, and any amenities like hot water or a hair dryer required a trip to the reception. We noticed another guest using a water machine, so my husband tried to do the same. However, the receptionist immediately closed the curtain over the machine using a remote control. When I asked her to open it again so we could get some water, she seemed annoyed and reluctantly complied.
After realizing the hot water was too hot, my husband attempted to mix in some cold water, but the staff closed the curtain again and stated, rather impolitely, that we could only have hot water. Despite my husband expressing his need for cold water multiple times, the staff's demeanor remained unfriendly, and her behavior felt unkind
