The Tides Laguna Beach

Great location. Really cute 'vintage' hotel. The only big downside was the super noisy people above us (thin floors/walls). I mentioned it during check out and they politely told us we should have called to let them know. There are no staff members there at night (I believe) and there are no hotel phones--so I am not sure how they could have even contacted the people above us.

Hotels.com assistance please

The reception staff were wonderful, and after the initial shock that the room was not at all what I am accustomed to with a 9.4 Hotels.com Excellent rating … actually after using Hotels.com for 12 years for business travel this was one of the few and actual the most stark opposite to a 9.4 rating hotel at that price. It has nothing to do with the staff or the location necessarily, except for the horrible noise of the floor and stairs stomping echoes and voices that are not usually apart of a 9.4 rating. The overall condition of the room with mildew on the super curtain and rust around the fixtures and spots and wear on the chairs and noticeable nicks on the table etc … this was definitely not what I expected, and I was there on business and did not sleep. I would hope for at least one if not two night full credits.

Great location and good size clean rooms

The hotel has a great location very near the beach and the centre. The parking was perfect and the pool seemed good although we didn’t use it. The room was a reasonable size and very clean. I enjoyed staying at Tides and would stay again.

Being withing walking distance of Laguna Beach was the best. Walks in the park with spectacular views, beach life, shopping, dining, it was all accessible from The Tides. The room was clean and really nice. It was a very nice break from the chain hotels. We will definitely try and stay there again and I would recommend it to anyone vacationing in Laguna.

Great location, minutes from main beach and shopping by foot. Across the street is a wonderful beach cove and park to enjoy the sun and water. If you are looking for upscale, go to the Montage and pay 1,500.00 per night. For the price, you can’t beat this hotel. It was surprisingly quiet considering it’s right off of Pacific Coast Highway. The staff workers were friendly. Parking is FREE. Most of the other hotels in that area charge $25-30 per night. Keep your car in the parking spot and walk. If you drive it out at night, you might not be able to find a spot when you come back. They gave us courtesy bottles of water that added to the nice hospitality. I would go back.
