Excelsior Palace Hotel

This hotel badly needs a massive renovation and overall cleanliness of the hotel needs to be improved. In all of the hotel it smells of mould probably caused by the old AC. The quality of the food in the restaurant is appalling for a 5 star hotel as is the service; sloppy and without finesse. The rooms are not properly cleaned and very worn. The hotel has potential but needs huge works to be done on all parts. A plus for some of the friendly staff - but also here the service level needs to be improved to charge the price and be called a 5 star.

We loved our stay at this hotel. They gave us a free upgrade and honestly the room was stunning. With an amazing view. The hotel is 5/6 min walk to restaurants beach and shopping. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. We will look forward to staying here again.

Excellent!!!!!!!!!!! The staff are amaZing and super friendly! They helped us and catered for us for everything we wanted. We had a minor issue at the beginning but they quickly sorted it. Very professional. Would definitely recommend and would definitely stay there again.

Where to begin... We walked to the hotel from the train station. Upon arrival we found that the front door was completely closed off, with a sign directing us back down the hill to the car park entrance. This turned out to be a steep uphill winding road with no pedestrian path, which was very dangerous to walk. As we approached the hotel's rear door, another guest arrived by car. The concierges ignored us and our heavy bags in favour of the other guests, helping them to unload their shopping bags. I presume they looked like better tippers. After checking in we went to our room and drank in the beautiful sea view, just past the adjacent building site and crane. We decided to relax by the outdoor infinity pool that was one of our main reasons for booking this hotel. Unfortunately the outdoor pools and hot tubs were all closed for the winter season - not something that was mentioned in the hotels.com listing, and a shame as the weather was beautiful. Once we decided to sleep, a couple next door had an argument until 1am. They weren't particularly loud, but the lack of soundproofing let us hear every detail. Great for fans of drama, not so great for fans of sleep. The next night we decided to have room service, mainly because neither of us wanted to walk down the dangerous driveway to go into town. The food was nice, but wildly overpriced, even taking normal room service pricing into account. The bed was comfortable. So that was nice. Wouldn't recommend.
