We arrived at the gates & pressed the buzzer for them to be opened. No reply. We tried for 30 minutes. We phoned the hotel several times, but no answer. Fortunately a guest arrived & used her pass key to
open the gates for us. We drove in & walked into the reception area. No staff. We waited for another 30 minutes to be told by a fellow guest that the staff were in the main hotel 1km away. We then drove there for our key. The concierge pointed out that our room was in the accommodation block not the hotel itself which is called Domaine de Verchant & is far more expensive. The only staff member in our accommodation block was present at breakfast time & arranged our check out. However, our suite was wonderful with superb features. We dined in Montpellier on our arrival but had breakfast in La Maison de Verchant which was very nice. Unfortunately it wasn’t made clear that there is a main hotel & a separate accommodation block. We spent a stressful time trying to gain admission, which could have been avoided had they put signs in appropriate languages at the gate directing guests to the main hotel with the necessary directions. A school boy error which ruined our first impressions.
