This hotel is perfect for what I wanted to experience in Iceland. I stayed at another hotel that pales in comparison, it was like night and day. The customer service is amazing. The hotel is right near the old city hall, within 5 minutes of the docks and all tour buses and nightlife. It isnt noisy. Did a couple day stopover between London and NY. Hotel is right at he base of the main shopping/dining street and the staff was really helpful with finding things to do since I hadn't really done any research. Also has a decent little beer bar in it that a lot of the locals seem to really dig with at least 100 different beers.

Front desk was very helpful! The clerks went out of their way to make sure we were taken care of. Located in the center of town with many cafes and restaurants nearby. Breakfast was very good with some tasty locally made bread and cheese. Will stay again in the future

We enjoyed it...price was reasonable, staff was helpful, hotel was clean and suited to need. We stayed mid-week so it was quieter so I do not know what a weekend would be like (I hear all downtown Reykjavik hotels are noisy). Great hotel with excellent location, walkable to everywhere in Downtown Reykjavik. Staff were very helpful and the MICRO bar was a hidden gem. Overall, would definitely stay here again but would ask for a room in the back as the noise travels from the loud streets on Friday/Saturday/Sunday nights.

While there are bigger and fancier hotels in Reykjavik, this was exactly what we anted. Right in the heart of the city center it was easy to walk to nearby restaurants, grocery stores and the central tourist information building. The staff was wonderful and all spoke excellent English. My friend and I just spent a week at this hotel over New Years and we loved it. The staff went out of their way to check to see if restaurants were open/make reservations for us (many were closed for the holidays). The hotel is located right in the heart of city center. We had the pleasure of staying at the City Center Hotel for 5 nights this week. We booked this hotel after reading several reviews on this site and can attest to the quality of the experience. Each of the front desk employees we meet during the 6 day stay were extremely helpful and very pleasant - after a day of exploration we always felt like we were […] returning "home" as we were greeted with a smile. We stayed in 601 facing the street and experienced very limited street noise. The room is well appointed, having a small minibar, tea kettle and coffee/tea available. I was very impressed with the cleanliness of the room and room service - clothing articles and other sundries left around the room where organized when we returned. If you are interested in the craft beer scene, Micro Bar, the hotel bar is exceptional, even hosting "private tasting parties" called Beer School while we were there (nominal charge for participation, however the hosts/bartenders were very helpful, translating from Icelandic to English). The hotel is perfectly located, a fantastic value for the cost during the season we stayed and are already excited to plan our next trip back. We will definitely be staying at City Center Hotel. After reading about this hotel in depth prior to our trip I was very pleased with what we experienced. The place is the perfect location, we walked everywhere, there is local markets, bars, restaurants of all price ranges and types of food. Great shopping is on every block. The breakfast, although some other posts mentioned was expensive, was very good. Breads from local bakeries, which we later visited, and skyr, the Icelandic version of Greek yogurt which is AMAZING! The showers were fantastic, and although the glass only covers half the shower area, the amazing shower heads and product make up for it! The water is delicious, you can drink it from the tap, the cold water is ice cold right from the faucet. DO NOT buy bottled water, the tap water is amazing. There is a beer,wine, and liquor store two stores down that closes at 1800 and a 24 hour convience store a block up the street. The streets are noisy Friday and Saturday nights, but considering the location, that is to be expected. There is a small elevator that runs up the winding staircase. It holds 4 people comfortably. Iceland is by far one of the best places I have ever visted and this hotel was perfect. It was comfortable and perfectly located. Beds were amazing. We couldnt have asked for a better hotel in Reykjavik. It was modern, quanit and small, and as the name stated, right in the heart of the city. We were able to walk everywhere or the bus line was a block away. Our room overlooked the harbor area and had a nice balcony. The bathroom was lovely with robes and slippers supplied. Bed was very comfortable […] with warm duvets. Micro Bar had a comprehensive range of beers and real ales from all over the world and locally brewed. Nightly Happy Hr 4-7 with half price beer choice was nice if we wer in the area. Breakfast was optional at 10 euro. Had a nice spread of pastry, bread, meat, cheese, Skyr, fruit, eggs and bacon (same spread daily) plus all the coffee you wanted. A rarity in Europe. Reasonable comparied to other local eateries where you pd twice the price for half the amt of food. It can get noisy on a night but they give you earplugs if it bothered anyone that much, but we didnt notice loud noise and we had a street facing room ( 505). This was our first stop on our drive around the ring road, and it was a nice introduction . My wife and I stayed at the City Center Hotel for 3 nights while we were on vacation in Iceland. The hotel is in a great location in the heart of the city center of Reykjavik. As others have mentioned it is noisy on weekend nights. We were there on a Saturday, Sunday, and Monday night. The room I got on arrival was the size of a phone booth and fronted on the street. I got the impression that I got this room BECAUSE I booked thru Hotels.com at a reduced rate. I EXPECTED much better. The noise from 1-5AM from the niteclubs in town made sleep impossible. There was no hot water in the shower. I was moved the next nite to a room 2 floors […] above w/ hot water but the shower drain was clogged. Still noisy and small. I returned 2 wks later for 1 nite and due to all my initial complaints was upgraded to a great room-large Q bed, large bath and at the back of the hotel (much quieter). The location of the hotel was fantastic - couldn't have been better. it was right in the city center, and overlooked a park and the parliament building in the back. Overall the room was clean and modern, but there were a couple corners in the bathroom that could be cleaner. Also, the bathroom had a bad smell probably due to sewer gasses / drain. We […] just kept the door closed. The breakfasts were good, but standard fare for hotels in the area of the world. Bacon was far undercooked. One gripe was air circulation in the room. There was no air conditioning or air movement of any kind. To keep the room cool in summer, the window must be kept open, which also allowed in noise from the street. We were on the 6th floor, so circulation was adequate when the windows were open. Travelers should note that the hotel (and all in the center city area) was in the approach path of the local city airport. Planes came in directly overhead (Low) which was alarming at first, but we got used to it. The amount of air traffic wasn't much, and it became a novelty, not a disturbance. The staff was friendly and accommodating; all spoke Engilsh, and most looked like runway models (not relevant, but worth noting). The bed was comfortable, but the pillows were not firm enough. The only bed covering was a winter weight down duvet, which was too much for summer time; Improvisation required. If I went back to Iceland tomorrow, I would stay here again, no questions asked. City Center Hotel is very conveniently located. Easy access to tourist offices and restaurants. Breakfast had varied selection with very delicious pastries. Note breakfast was not included in my cost when I booked room. Hotel has "Micro Bar" bar which had eight taps of Iceland beer as well as dozens of bottles of world beers. Staff was very helpful […] and respected "do not disturb" and "please clean room" requests. One drawback of its location is loud music on the weekend if you have room by the street but this would not prevent me from using hotel again. Devamı

It is just a brand new Hotel which you will found youself central located in the city, Everything is just close by within a walking distance. Resturants around within walking distance too. Their staffs is super friendly and helpful, you will be found the hair dryer, Electric Kettles, Fridge in your room. Room size is typical European size room means […] which is not too roomy but it just find perfect for the traveller, as most people will join the local excursion e.g from Icland Excursion which is 2 mins walking distance or they will send the shuttle to piclk you up and will leave the Hotel room very early and get late when they done for the tour. To and from Airport. Airport Shuttle pick up and stop by in front of the Hotel with no distance at all. Front desk could arrange it for you. It was plesant stay and I would definitely come back !!!! We were not told about the noise from the bars and street which went on until 5 AM!! Even the earplugs offered were useless. The room was so small that one cannot have two suitcases inside without blocking the way to the bathroom or door!!
