Centara Grand Beach Resort Phuket - Phuket

The resort was nice, the beds were quite hard, they appeared to run short on linen and got left on 2 occasions having no towels and had to call for them. Everything in the resort was good quality however expensive.

We stayed at the Centara in Jan 2013 with our 8 year old son. The hotel has direct access to the beach and has two pools with in the complex - an adults only one and a kids pool. We spent most of our time by the kids pool. There is a baby water slide for toddlers and small children, plus a double curved slide for kids and adults. The lazy river with […] its flotation rings provided hours of fun and relaxation. The Kids Club was great and our son happily played in there when he wanted a break from the hot weather. He made lots of friends. We stayed in a Villa which was a huge stand alone villa on a hill overlooking the beach. This gave us access to the Club Lounge, which had drinks, snacks, games, DVDs etc. available to us at no extra charge. The villa was clean and nicely decorated, so it was very pleasant spending time in there. each evening we had fresh fruit and dried snacks delivered, on our first night we even got a bottle of bubbly! A few nights we would walk into Karon to eat there (2 Chefs) and to have a foot massage. it takes about 15 minutes to walk or you can jump in a taxi. We booked 17 nights as a family and booked for interconnecting rooms. On arrival, we were told that the rooms connect via the outside balcony and not by an internal door. Not very helpful when you want to monitor your children! The resort is advertised as low rise, and the photo would lead you to believe it is. Whilst the blocks all had only 4 floors, […] they are up a hillside, making it all feel very overbearing and clausterphobic. The pool area is too small for a hotel of this size and sun beds are really close together. Given the hotel has only been running for a couple of years, it is not in great condition...we thought it was 10 years old! Our advice is don't go here. Go north to Khao Lak. Buffet breakfast was the best (banana crepe to die for). A wide selection of cooked food (pancakes, bacon, baked beans, eggs - made to your liking), bread, pastries (doughnuts, cupcakes, croissants), as well as fruit, yoghurt, cereal, juice & milk. A different buffet theme every night with entertainment outside on most nights. My favourites - Mediterranean […] night (minestrone soup) & Thai night (fried banana). I highly recommend the strawberry sorbet, fresh banana milkshake & the margherita pizza at the Italian restaurant. Our room looked out to the Sea (steps away) & the waves send you to sleep. The rooms tended every day (bed, towels, toiletries, water) & with turn down service every night. There is a separate bath & shower. Our shower drain had some issues, but this was fixed immediately at our request. There is also a hairdryer & western toilet with choice of toilet paper or water hose. Daily bottled water given can be used to brush you teeth & drink. Strangely the only clock in the room is on the TV, which has a few cable channels. There is plenty of cupboard & draw space, a safe, robes, desk, & chairs. You can ask for an iron & board if you need it. Laundry service items are returned the same day if given to staff before 10am in the morning. Beds were comfy. Roll away bed would suit a child or someone no more than about 160cm. Rooms had air-conditioning & fans. Large pool, with lazy river & bar is great fun. The traditional Thai foot massage was very relaxing & worth it. Devamı

We had a very nice stay at this hotel. Rooms were lovely, buffet breakfast great, pools great, pool staff very good with kids, beachfront location was great also. One thing they could improve is the number of shuttle bus services to Karon & Patong. Checking out at 12pm whilst having an 11.30pm flight was a bit of a pain also.

Nice and big rooms. Good food. Swimming pools are the best, with slides for kids and a manmade clift for jumping off!! Downside: cannot swim in the sea because of rip currents, nothing in the surrounding.............this is a place for you to veg out, and not for you to venture out. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Stunning views with Jacuzzi on balcony. Beach is nice and quiet away from all the partying of phuket. Karon town is not too far. Had a bad experience with breakfast to my room where i requested vegetarian and they put ham in it. This was not good as it is against my religion however hotel offered me complimentary […] buffet dinner and went out of their way to ensure the food available was all halal or vegetarian. If you decided to go to Phuket, Centara Grand Beach is one of the better luxury hotels to stay in. Karon is a long beach and doesn't get too overcrowded. The problem though is that there are two waste rivers leaking into the sea on the both sides of the hotel. The water seems to be harmless at times, but at times it smells and certainly looks like a […] waste water. It doesn't feel nice to swim in the sea, knowing the water might not be safe or clean. But this is a problem on every beach on Phuket. If you stay in Centara, you can either walk along the beach to a distance from those rivers or you can use large pools as well; these are especially great for kids. The staff at the reception doesn't seem to be very friendly comparing to other Phuket hotels and at times are very inefficient. Some of them speak English worse than their own waitresses serving breakfast. The hotel should also consider putting mosquito nets on the windows - it is a shame to resort to aircons instead of keeping windows open with fresh wind at nights. Ive stayed at a few hotels on this island, and this is by far the best. The room is high quality. From the marble bathroom to the soft bed and pillows to the furniture on the patio. Everything is great. Roomservice food was the only small complaint of mine. It was not the best, but it was edible. We ate at the rooftop bar and the menu was from Mare […] restaurant. It was great. Too bad they didnt serve that for the room service! My favorite was their asparagus/ artichoke appetizer. The pool: amazing! Loved the swim up bar, loved the lazy river, loved the waterslides and loved the cliff thing they have to jump off of. The lazy river and stuff attached to it was all salt water, so that was a nice change from the chlorine pool! Overall I would love to stay here again. The hotels on the beach and there are plenty of chairs and massages available. Oh and you get 4 or more free bottles of water a day in the room. Devamı

The property is fairly new, the staff is very accommodating. However, the hotel is away from town a bit so it's taxis to and from anywhere. The taxi rates are TEN times of those in Bangkok, so be prepared. The property is very quiet and peaceful with live entertainment during dinner every night (except Sunday). The pools are very nice, there is even […] a lazy river to relax in, plus water-slides; however, they close early, this was a negative for us. While there aren't any private beaches in Phuket (as far as we know), this property is as close as we've seen to private. A+ for the beach. All of the little things that you'd expect to be included at no cost in a place as expensive as this, by Thailand standards, cost extra. Internet connection for example. The views from the seaside rooms are amazing, but you'll need to be careful because not all views are unobstructed. There are also two friendly cats on the property, we named them Doug and Gus. We stayed 5 nights, full sea view room was lovely. The pools are amazing, there are many i.e. adults only infinity pool, water slides, kids area. The only downside was that there they did not seem to provide those little extras that a 5 star should e.g. nibbles with drinks, had to pay extra for private poolside beds, dont get local taxis, just own private […] ones which are double the cost. What can I say but....AMAZING, AMAZING, AND SUPER AMAZING! This resort has friendly staff, prompt to take care of any need, and nothing but smiles all day long. The location is up against the lush, green mountain on one side then the crystal clear ocean on the other. Buffets were priccccccey. We went to the thai theme night and the seafood nite...it […] was okay but not worth $30/pp. eg: 1 soda can $3. The only saving grace is, if you literally go the the beach there is a tent where they make delicious cheap food right on the spot for you. When you lay on the cushions at Ripples pool, the infinity pool water lines up with the ocean water. Gorgeous! And just when it gets too hot or humid, the rain comes and cools everything down. Perfect! The only drawback is the Thai cooking school. Again it was fun but way overpriced. The trip to the market is stinky...don't say you weren't warned. I can do w/out the apron and certificate with a lesser price on the class. But overall, if I had to do it over again I would have signed up anyways. We stayed at Centara Grand for 9 nights (honeymoon). Check in we arrived at 9 am and paid the hotel for airport pickup. We waited in the lobby 3 1/2 hrs before them allowing us to go to our room. 1st day our 3rd floor room was infested with ants (problem was at 8:30am) hotel did upgrade our room to pool villa which we had to wait to change rooms until […] check in time at 12, meanwhile there was nobody in the new room, strange and by the time they moved us and we got settled in the new room our 1st day was half over and was wasted moving rooms & waiting. New room was beautiful BUT also had ants, this time they were only around the coffee and eating area, they werent in our clothing closet so we shut up and stayed there. WOW, room service 1st & 2nd day-amazing!!! I even gave the young girl a tip.... after 2nd day, horrible, they changed our sheets 1 time in 9 nights, they didnt put face cloths out. One day breakfast dishes-lunch dishes still sat outside until 4pm. EXPENSIVE to eat at hotel!! 20 min walk to Karon. The construction & rooms of hotel are 5star, General hotel service is ONLY ABOUT 3star. English is very broken as well. One positive thing I noticed while staying there, the hotel has a lot of amenities for children. They have a childrens club in the mornings, but dont expect to leave the resort, staff will be calling you to make sure your still on the resort (friends we met at the resort had kids) We wouldnt stay at this hotel again. Set in a beautiful location, the facilities and grounds are stunning, the rooms are well appointed and luxurious (we stayed in a Spa Deluxe room). When we got in we were tired from the flight from Australia so ordered room service which arrived cold […] - no mean feat in the 30 degree weather! Because of the hotel's location (outskirts of Karon beach) you can't get a meal at mealtimes unless you carefully plan to a) walk the 15 minutes to town along the beach (which became difficult after day 3 of all-day walking and sightseeing!) b) pay the 200 baht to get a ride into Karon or c) plan to eat at the resort. The problem with resort eating was it was very expensive to do each night ($100AUD dinner without alcohol was common in the Mare restaurant). And the menus were always the same. By far what lets the resort down is the lack of English-speaking staff. The majority of staff (including front-of-house reception and the call center you have to call if you want to contact anyway) all found it difficult to understand what I or my husband were saying. We ended up having to resort to using Pidgin English which I always feel embarrassed about using as I feel it is insulting to the person you are addressing. It was very frustrating as several things went wrong during our stay (no electricity etc) which we could not communicate. Lovely place, but I would not stay here again. Devamı

Friend and I stayed for 5 days 4 nights in early June 2011. From the airport we took the minibus service headed towards the Patong/Karon area (counter is directly on your left after walking out of customs at the Phuket airport) which took about 15 min to load up, b/c they wait until they have a full bus to leave. Bus service only cost 180baht and is […] not affiliated with the hotel but does stop at a tour office where they try to sell you diff tours. We ended up booking one but it does take longer to get to your hotel (almost 2 hrs b/c we were the last ones dropped off) compared to the taxi "mafia" who charge exorbitant prices. Regularly according to googlemaps it should take about 45 min from the airport. Upon arriving at the hotel we were greeted with smiles, a refreshing fruit drink and cool towels. The staff was friendly and professional. They even upgraded us from a regular 'superior' room to a deluxe spa room (w/out us asking!), probably b/c it was the start of off-peak season. After checking in they took us in a cute 'golf cart' along the pathway to our rooms. There are several buildings, mostly connected by walkways and distance from the check-in/lobby building is several hundred feet. (Note: The morning of checkout they also called to ask when to pick us (and luggage) up in the golf cart. Thumbs up!) The entire time at the hotel it seemed maybe 1/4 occupied. The room on the 4th floor, accessible by elevator, was spacious with a small outdoor jacuzzi on the outdoor balcony (w/2 lounge seats). Room was clean and fresh fruit placed in a bowl on the counter. Bathroom opened to the rest of the room via a large sliding wooden door. The shower stall design was a unique glass cylinder (I think this is depicted in the hotel website pics) and bathroom had a separate glass door for toilet. All the rooms at this hotel have sea views but we preferred the higher level room to the lower level, (but more expensive rooms) with the outdoor private minipool. Since all rooms f Devamı

I have been visiting Thailand every year for 12 years and have never enjoyed a resort as much as I did this one. Every member of staff smiled, were friendly and helpful. The resort rooms and facilities were great. The view is amazing. Allow for 5000 bart per day for breakast, dinner, snacks and drinks by the pool and transport costs. HIGHLY recommended in all ways, incl. position and val;ue for money. Brandnew, great service, food, entertainment (free yoga on roof!) etc. Our only concerns were high charges for Internt usage (this should be for free in a 5 star hotel), check-in was slow, room service somewhat expensive and expensive taxis (for Thailand) connecting one with destinations […] only 5 minutes away (we started walking via the beach). Great for both individual travellers as well as families as these groups are seperated if needed. The Thai influence was welcome as opposed to sometimes clinical western-owned hotel chains. Devamı

这个是住宿到现在相对意见最大的酒店了。酒店很大，泳池很好玩，但是泳池和吃早餐的餐厅都非常远。附近没有什么商店或者便利店，要出去买东西要走很久。海景房的景色是不错，直面大海，但是这么好的地理位置这么久配上了这么差劲的服务。首先，checkin速度超级慢，reception不知道在干吗。其次，客房中设施不全，我的房间都可以，我母亲的房间是缺少了梳洗用具，拖鞋，雨伞。再次，房间的百叶帘居然是手动的，晚上要拉老半天才能全拉下来，还不止一面，不拉根本没法睡。我房间还有面帘子是坏的，我跟老公拉了老半天，最后只能让客服部来修，我们10点打的电话，等到11点才有人来修，然后修理的人在那边慢吞吞的搞，搞到近12点才弄好，边搞边聊天。这种速度这种态度，真是很无语啊。

Das Hotel ist komplett ausserhalb. Jeglicher Ausflug muss mit einem Taxi absolviert werden. Das Hoteleigene Taxi kostet vielmehr als die einheimischen Taxis.

酒店很不错，虽然离机场有些远，单程需要1200元泰铢。酒店是依山而建，我看上去感觉所有房间都能看到海和山，海很宽，山很绿。园区有五个游泳池，水很干净。里面中国人不是很多，俄罗斯人多。酒店唯一不好的是餐馆少，只有两家餐馆，一家是早餐厅，一家就是泰餐加西餐，贵得要死，所以还要到外面去解决吃饭问题。 泰国不好的地方面于出行不方便，街面上没有可以打表的出租车，什么都是议价，而且价格贵得很，所以出去吃饭的成本就高。 我认为普吉这两年物价飞涨，人也不不纯朴，一个被过度开发的旅游城市，一个被外国游客惯坏了的城市。下了飞机出境处居然被明着要每人10元人民币小费，当时没反应过来就给了，过后怎么想怎么生气。

景色非常棒，在阳台上就可以窝一整天，我们定的是spa room。 交通有些不太方便，酒店上去没有什么地摊或shopping场所，如果只想泡酒店的话，这是个很好的选择。 酒店里的饮食不贵，意大利餐厅的装修很喜欢。
