The Palomar Inn - Pismo Beach

Palomar Motel is an older but well kept up motel near my professional conference hotel. Clean quiet room, great price. The lady running the motel is very nice. All in all a great experience

The rooms are small. It states it is a non-smoking facility but there were several people smoking in the parking lot which also has limited parking spaces.

I grew up spending my summers near hear and loved the location. You could walk to Shell Beach and there were great restaurants near by. The hotel itself is older but has been updated a bit. It is very clean and the rooms are "cozy" meaning the rooms are small but efficient. The point is to be outside anyway! The room was super crammed which was to be expected for the price, but bed was VERY hard. I woke up with back and shoulder pain. Not only that, the owners were SO lazy. From the time we arrived to the next day when we left, the front desks phone had a busy tone the ENTIRE time! I called a million times and could never get through. I eventually had to […] google the offices # which I had to let that phone ring about 30-40 times before anyone answered. I was SO frustrated. I told them their front desk phone was busy so she apologized and said shed fix it...she never did. We were also told the hotel offered a complimentary breakfast along with coffee so the next morning I was trying to guide out what time it was served but had to walk to the office since the phone was busy once again only to find the door still locked at 8:30am!! I rang the bell about 10 times and got no answer. Walked Back down to my room and the lady came running out trying to see who rang the bell...I just ignored her. I went down to the office later to discover that the hotel didn't even serve breakfast. I was told there was a cafe next door that I could eat at. Very angering. The room is so small that you can't turn around - the bathroom is worse. The carpet was filthy. The bed linens were clean and smelled of bleach. I had to ask for a clean bedspread, as the bed was the only place to sit. I realize this is a property that allows dogs, but I did not expect a dog house! We left early because the hotel was so bad!

Just a short walk to a beautiful beach and a few minutes from Shell Beach and Pismo.

I wanted the clean, newly painted, spacious room I saw pictured on the internet ad! The room was tiny and best described as "campy". Great location, the beach and bluffs at the end of the road are magnificent the Palomar Inn leaves something to be desired. The owners/operators were very pleasant and welcoming.

I read all the reviews, so I knew the experience could be mixed, but the staff was friendly, the room clean and the location was awesome! We had a very small room, which was fine. My only real complaint is the hardness of the mattress and freeway noise. This is typical for 2 stars hotels, so it is no worse than expected for the mattress and the freeway […] was not close enough to keep us awake. The beach was only two easy blocks away. You are on a bit of a bluff, so you need to find the stairway down and do not expect a large sandy oasis to relax on. You have to get in your car and travel a few minutes down to Pismo to get a real beach. The views are awesome and the neighborhood was delightful. I guess it all depends on the location and what you can get for the price. It's a *very* small room. Old TV with VCR. However, the room looked reasonably clean. I probably should have paid a little extra money for one of the neighboring chain motels.

Friendly front desk clerk. Room is small but still has many amenities, fridge, micro, even dvd player. I thought I read that all the rooms had been updated in 2009 but this would be doubtful unless they put up 80's decor wallpaper again...still, a good place to stay if you are going to spend most of your time at the beach or sightseeing anyway.

Very clean. All staff and maintanence were excellent. Very nice and very helpful.

My husband and I will be staying here again. It is a nice mom and pop motel within walking distance to the beach 3 blocks, a coffee shop and little stores.

Let me start by saying that after reading the reviews from the guests of The Palomar Inn that came before us, my husband and I were nervous about our over-night stay to say the very least. No hot water, cramped rooms, poor customer service, & thin walls were just a few of the complaints that we read about...but, we booked a quick over-night stay on […] our way to Tahoe there anyway. And, much to our surprise, we were very pleased with our room & the customer service. Yes, the rooms are small, but it was perfect for me, my husband, and our 3 year old son. I requested two queen beds, and was excited to see that the second queen bed actually came with it's own room (great for our little boy)! We never had a problem with hot water. The showers suited our needs just fine. We also never heard our neighbors in the room directly next to us, and the customer service we received at the front desk was a sweet girl who made pleasant conversation with us and offered to give us ideas for meals and attractions. The front desk accomodated all of our requests with no questions asked. For those of you that know the Pismo Beach area you know that you could stay in a trash can and the area would still be beautiful with wonderful weather. While I don't think The Palomar Inn is the best hotel to accomodate large families or groups it is perfect for a long weekend or a quick over-nighter for a group of 4 or less per room. Actually, we were so pleased with our stay on the way up to Tahoe that we re-booked on the way back home a week later with the same results. So, if you're one of the guests that had a bad experience, I encourage you to give The Palomar Inn another shot. Otherwise, happy traveling and thanks for listening! Devamı

It was very very small, cruise ship size room! It was not worth the money we paid. We have stayed at much nicer places for the same money.

I read the oither reviews and have this to say: The Palomar is a "Retro Motel" For the time when it was built, it is in excellent clean condition. The location is spectacular, the room adequate, linens clean and fluffy and the service OUTSTANDING. And the price is very economical! No it is not a 5 star luxury spa, nor is it a super efficient chain. […] Yes the rooms are small, and yes the parking is tight. But my wife and myself, two dogs in crates and TOWING a TRAILER were comfortable! Particularly when we walked down to the ocean with the dogs through pleasant beach neighborhoods. That is right, at this price WE WALKED TO THE BEACH! \ Oh there was a coffee maker in the room, but no coffee! Hmmm But there were TWO gourmet coffee shops within a few blocks. And not far off a seafood restaurant with unbelievable boiled crab. I suppose coffee in th room is somehow better than that? Hmmm... Stay in a room you are complaining about being too small and drinking self brewed chain coffee vs getting out and feeling the Pacific roar in your face then idling over a cup of exotic coffee fresh brewed by an expert? LOLOL!!! That one is a No Brainer! Slow hot water? Thanks for the warning, I turned the water on, brushed my teeth while it warmed and then enjoyed a noce hot shower. Now where was the problem again? I seemed to miss it. Bottom line, a motel within walking distance of the ocean, clean, quiet and peaceful. And in a word, QUAINT! We will certainly go back, but then we are not spoiled. We enjoy those things in life that are special. And five star chains can be beautiful and polished, but have you ever heard one described as QUAINT? The people who manage the Palomar in no way deserved any of the nasty reviews I saw here. Devamı

This is a very quaint hotel for the price! Location is convenient to all nearby beaches if willing to drive. The room was clean enough. We loved that it was pet friendly and so inexpensive. Very small room but great for a 1 night stay. Wonderful view from the beach very close to the hotel and good restaurants nearby. Nice staff.

The room was not too clean. The window treatments did not work. The shower was not to up to date and parking was a little pain in the butt. THE TV DID NOT WORK! On the good side the location was really good and the price was OK......for the room I thought the price was a little high. All and All Pismo Beach is a great place but this hotel is not […] ! I liked my whole experience,

Owners more interested in saving money, rather than customer convenience. Simple things we expect on vacation. Inquired about an ice maker, was notified the nearest one was 2 blocks away at the local market. Little coffee machines in room, but no coffee packets available. Hot water heater was so far away from rooms, it took almost 10 minutes to get […] hot water for shower. My stay was good.. The hotel is nothing to look at from the outside but the room was clean and adequate. I needed a hotel that took pets. I really enjoyed my stay because the hotel was very close to the beach ad close to several restaurants. Rooms are on the small side but so is the price. The Palomar Hotel did have clean sheets and fluffy towels. They ran out of filters for coffee the first day we were there and still were not available on the next day. The water in the shower took 20 minutes to heat, the hairdryer was but a mere whisper of air. Great for one night after a long drive. The walls are thin and we had neighbors who started a conversation about 10pm and continued tell about 1am - 2am. Not the hotels fault. Just your typical rude traveler who had a lot to say. The best part was the coffee shop next door. Quaint and great coffee and happy people and good service. Very courteous fellow at the front desk. Nice room, recently renovated. Simple, but very clean, comfortable bed, very nice shower. Had refrigerator and microwave. The good things: clean, refrigerator, iron. Didn't like: thin walls, noisy neighbors, close to freeway, Little things: the room had been painted and they painted over the thermostat so you can't tell what the temperature you want is: you just move it and hope it's right. First let me say that the town and surrounds were really quaint and sweet. The neighborhood seems peaceful and relaxed. The hotel location is great, within walking distance of the beach; there is also a local coffe / sandwich shop right next door, and the food was great! We frequently travel, and stayed at a total of 7 during this trip. The Palomar […] Inn was the least quality of the seven. The hotel served as a decent place to sleep for the night on our way along the coast from LA to San Francisco. That is all I can credit the hotel with in terms of comfort and amenities; there was absolutely no hot water. It wasn't even lukewarm. After already booking the hotel, we found another online review that had the same issue - staff had suggested running the water longer to get it to warm up. Apparently this did not work for either of us. I don't mind older furnishings, but the matress was in poor condition. There were numerous stains, tears and burn marks (?) visible. The top sheets appeared to be clean enough, but a closer inspection reveales several hairs of all lengths just under the sheets. Yuck. Additionally, the bed was so close to the wall that it was impossible to roll our luggage past the bed. Persons who may need assistance lifting heavy luggage over the top of a bed should be advised. On a final note, be aware that the hotel is only staffed until 9pm, so let the office if you will be checking in late (without a previously booked reservation) or if you make a last-minute reservation! For us, this location was ideal - one block from where our son lives. We had a horrible experience, though, and will never stay here again. First, we were surprised by how small the room was. There was barely enough room to walk between the foot of the bed and the other side of the room! We left the room in the early morning of our second night's stay […] and returned about 5:00 p.m. to find that our room had not been cleaned. When we called the office we got an apology and clean towels were delivered..........period. The final straw was that there was no hot water on the final morning of our stay. Office said we just had to run the water longer and it would warm up. We had run it for about four solid minutes and at that point, just wanted to leave! Cute little beach bungalows! We had a great stay at the Palomar Inn and would definitley stay there again! I am 6 months pregnant and was a bit worried that I would not sleep well...I slept great! And its a lovely 2 block walk to the beach :) We also had our dog with us and he was welcomed by the super friendly staff and had a great stay as well

Excellent choice for a quick stay in Pismo Beach.

It's a little out of town but close to the ocean. The rooms are a bit small, but not bad for 1 or two people. The place was very clean and had a bare bones but overall nice feel. For the price it was a great value.

hotel très sympathique, ambiance agréable avec les palmier dans la cours et le bleu azur sur les murs. Personnel très sympa et accueillant. les chambres sont petites mais parfaites pour une etape. la mer au bout de la rue avec un beau petit parc ne gache rien. j'ai adoré l'ambiance et la vue du roof top.
