Riad Al Jana - Marrakech

We had a fantastic stay at Riad Al Jana. The location is just a short walk from Djemaa El Fna and is right by the Ben Youssef Mosque. The room was nicely-decorated, quiet and clean - we even had our own lounge and a bathroom designed in the Tatooine-style. The courtyard is beautifully tiled and fills with sunlight during the day. We were there in early April and had some really sunny days (and a couple of short, heavy showers). Abdou, the manager, is a nice guy and superbly helpful. He booked us bus tickets to Tiznit and got us a reservation at a hammam. However, I would recommend making sure that you are clear with him about your requests, that you remind him about them, and that you make sure you know what you will be charged. He seemed a bit rushed off his feet when we were there, and he forgot to tell the kitchen that we wished to eat at the Riad one night (the unique and enjoyable result of this was that he took us to a local sandwicherie and ordered us the kefta sandwiches and mint tea that he has himself every night) and he delayed making a restaurant reservation and then couldn't get a table at the one we wanted. Inevitably, a few charges then turned up on the bill that we hadn't discussed (but should have expected) like the cost of the taxi he used to pick up our bus tickets. It is a true experience for a first timers to feel the Moroccan culture first hand living in the old Medina surrounded by the timeless atmosphere. In the beginning we were a bit wary of the location however it was safe and able to appreciate the authenticity of Moroccan living. I had a wonderful visit to Marakech and stay at the Riad Jana. I was warmly welcomed after a long day of travel by nieimbia (sp?) french woman who was so kind when I was feeling stressed and troubled. She was completely accomodating and contacted Abdul w/ whom I spoke over the phone (he speaks english!). and was super duper helpful. Had a lovely stay. Nice relaxing environment. Lovely members of staff, who will help as much as they can. Even with a language barrier, as we do not speak French! Would thoroughly recommend to anybody looking to stay in the centre of Marrakech.

This beautiful riad is conveniently located right in the middle of the medina near the Koutoubia Mosque. My room was large, comfortable, clean and beautifully decorated. The riad itself is a gorgeous oasis in the middle of the madness of the souks. The staff of Riad al Jana were very friendly and welcoming and the food was magnificent and abundant. […] My only slight negative is that it is not easy to find and being in the middle of the medina a taxi will not be able to take you to the door so you will need to find it on foot; I would advise getting one of the pesky 'guides' to show you the way or arranging with the hotel to have someone meet you at the taxi drop off point. Das Riad AL Jana liegt in der Medina am Rand der Souks von Marrakesch und ist eine Oase in dem Chaos der orientalischen Umgebung. Man wird freundlich empfangen und umsorgt. Durch die wenigen sehr sauberen Zimmer herrscht eine familiäre Atmosphäre. Den Gauklerplatz kann man in 20 Minuten zu Fuß erreichen und die Medersa Ben Yossuf liegt fast nebenan […] . Devamı

El Riad està bien, es limpio y las habitaciones son amplias. Ahora están de reformas(05-2011). Además en el desayuno, la cocinera hace todos los días tortitas típicas de Marrakesh. Inconveniente: que esta a unos 800m de la plaza El fna y hay que cruzar toda la Medina con muchas callejuelas y es muy facil perderse.
