We stayed here one night while passing through SLO. We checked in around midnight, and the man checking us in was very courteous though we had woken him up (regular desk hours end at 10 pm...after that, you ring the "night bell," and someone will come out to help you). Smelly room. I sprayed my body splash (spray) all over the room to cover up the odor. The hotel clerk (and the only person at the premise) was not only unfriendly but very unprofessional. On the second morning, he asked me, "you don't need your room cleaned, do you?" I asked where the breakfast was and was told to go back to my room and make my own […] coffee. The morning I checked out, I found him sitting outside in a chair waiting for me to vacate the room, which made me feel very uncomfortable. It's ironic that the worse hotel experience I had in California was in a city Oprah called, "the happiest city in the US." There was no sense of hospitality. Not bad for the price, slept comfortably.

The room was not ready until after 4pm, but the room was very comfortable. The bed and pillows were great and the hotel was very quiet, and the TV worked great. Can't ask for anything more than that.

Travelled through SLO and needed simple overnight lodging for just me. Very adequate for the reasonable price. Everything worked, but definitely an older motel, yet sufficiently maintained. Ten minute walk to the heart of SLO. Close to Splash for excellent pastries for breakfast. Would not book this motel for my family for an extended stay.

Not the most up to date fittings in each room, but the room was big, everything worked and everything was clean and the bed was comfortable. Good value for money.

Although it probably saw its best days from the 70's, The Villa hotel was more than adequate for essential, no-frills accommodations (e.g., no morning breakfast bar). While the resources were somewhat limited, the staff were very pleasant and accommodating. Linens were clean, and the bed surprisingly comfortable. A quaint family run motel. My room was spacious and comfortable. I did have to request some toiletries from the owner but there was no delay or attitude. THe king sized bed in my room was very comfortable but I always wonder why family run motels don't have fitted sheets. With every turn during the night the bottom sheet wraps around you and by morning […] you feel prepared to be mummified. Great price, great experience. Very close to SLO campus

Close to Cal Poly, very inexpensive and you get what you pay for! We clearly woke the manager when we arrived at 9:30. He checked us in in his robe and bare feet. We felt bad that we had to call him when we found the heater was not working. At least he put slippers on when he came to hit the wall unit with his flashlight! I was locked inside my room and had to climb out the window - due to shoddy maintenance. No hot water in the sink. Extremely thin, small bath towels (actually too small to qualify as a bath towel).

Excellent value - clean room, spacious and parking is great! VERY comfortable bed . . .

The good: nice, spaceous roooms. Good location, close to HWY101 and close to downtown SLO. The bad: Wifi didn't work.
