Carlton Inn Midway - Chicago

I got this motel for just a stopover between flights and booked it because of the shuttle. The staff was very friendly and the motel was clean and comfortable.

The hotel was nicely priced, clean, and convienient.

We were stuck in Chicago after a flight to DC was cancelled due to weather. We nearly booked another hotel, but were advised by a Hotels.com representative of its poor customer reviews. For $2 less per night total, he recommended we try to Carlton Inn, which also had a free 24-hour shuttle to Midway airport. What a fantastic recommendation! First, […] the shuttle was exceptionally quick and convenient, and our driver was very friendly, despite picking us up at 2am. He even made a breakfast recommendation for a diner down the block. The property was charming and well kept, and carefully shoveled from the evening's snowstorm. The staff checked us in quickly, and has us into our clean, cozy room in minutes. We slept comfortably, and felt welcomed in the morning with the simple but delicious free breakfast - our choice of donuts, muffins, bagels, or Dunkin Donuts breakfast sandwiches. We especially loved getting to meet the owners' gentle dog, Buddy. The morning shuttle was prompt, and we were once again given friendly service to Midway airport. I will be staying at the Carlton Inn the next time I am in Chicago, rain or shine! Devamı

The hotel is very clean and well maintained. All staffs are very nice, helpful and professional. Also thank shuttle drivers to the rides to/from the airport/car rental station.

I have stayed here before and found the hotel clean and the staff, very helpful. they upgraded us to Queen size beds. Neighborhood seems safe. It is just a short walk to the train station (orange line) and a 15-20 minute ride into the loop. They will even drive you to train station, however, not even a half a mile. The best part of this hotel was the service. All staff members were so nice, especially in regards to rides to and from the metro station. I agree with other reviews that the Carlton isn't located in the best part of town, and I wouldn't wander around at night. Luckily it's an easy metro ride into city center.

This hotel was everything was I looking for on a budget. The staff was very helpful and the room was very clean and surprisingly spacious. My only complaints are that the pillows were small and uncomfortable and the surrounding neighborhood was a bit iffy.

Everything was awesome. The staff was totally professional. The room was spotless and beautiful. The breakfast the next morning was very good. I had a wonderful sleep and an excellent trip. Our visit to Chicago was made much better because of the Carlton.

I'd like to rate this hotel "excellent" in all areas. Staff, shuttle driver (he is an Hapkido expert with good heart), cleanness of room, politeness and courteousness are reflected in the way they communicate with customers and beyond my expectation. I stayed here with my students for a field trip to Chicago and I couldn't have been more satisfied given the circumstances. The neighborhood felt sketchy but between the cameras and the security guard, I felt very safe. The rooms were very clean and the concierge was EXTREMELY helpful. As has been posted before, the hotel staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. The hotel is quite convenient to Midway, (about 2 miles), and they are geared for people needing to use Midway. No frills, nothing fancy, but a solid hotel if you need to be in that part of town. The neighborhood feels less safe than it actually is.

Very convenient location, room was clean, staff was very hospitable. Breakfast was OK. If the hotel could invest in some better mattresses and some soundproofing would be super fantastic. As it is, we could hear everything going on in the next room even at 4:30 a.m. Otherwise, excellent for the price in Chicago.

The pillows were very uncomfortable and the refrigerator was quite noisy. Other than that, the room was pretty good.

Exceptional value. One of the best hospitality experiences we have ever had. All basic facets of service that a traveler would expect were provided to the highest degree. A full-on recommend for the Chicago visitor.

I stayed at Carlton Inn Midway once before, in May 2011, when I rode in the Active Transportation Alliance (ATA) Bike-the-Drive on Lakeshore Drive. This time, when I rode in the ATA's 4-Star Bike Tour in August 2011, I again chose Carlton Inn Midway because it was so conveniently close to ATA activities and delivered good value for the money. But I've […] noticed a few things that are not conducive to a satisfying stay. The walls are not sound-resistant or soundproofed, and neighbors sometimes make excessive noise, so you'll need earplugs for restful sleep. The doors have no peephole, so you'll have to glance out the window if anyone knocks. Conversely, the front desk clerks have been friendly, helpful, and genuinely interested in my comfort, and the housekeepers did well in preparing the room. The hotel is Ok, friendly staff.. But, breakfast is VERY basic, location not so great.

The Carlton Inn, Midway, Chicago provided me with the two most important amenities I look for in a motel room: windows that OPEN and an air conditioner that blows cold air CONTINUOUSLY. This hotel had an excellent and helpful staff. The room was very clean and it appears to have been recently remodeled. Access to the trains were only about 2-3 blocks away, so it made it very convenient and affordable to hop around Chicago. This hotel is conveniently located near the CTA station, and Midway. The staff provided shuttle service to both. Rooms are affordable, and are clean and quiet. There is a microwave and refrigerator in the room, and a continental breakfast is provided each morning in the lobby area. Needed a place to stay near Midway Airport with shuttle service. Drivers were polite and helpful, as was front desk. Got me to and from airport on time. Very good place to spend a night in transit.

We were in town for one night and needed a place that was close to the downtown area as we had to be in the Hyde Park area around 8AM the next morning. We arrived late in the evening and our minivan with 4 bikes on the back was a little large for parking in their normal places. The staff was remarkable, they definitely go above and beyond to make sure the customer is happy and satisfied. They were incredibly helpful too, and gave me directions to where I needed to go throughout my day. They also offer a free shuttle to and from Midway Airport. There are a lot restaurants and stores in the area which could be helpful as well, based on your needs. The price is great if you're on a budget and I would recomment staying there to some travelers, but not all. I think it would be good if you're there on business, or if you have a vehicle (they offer free parking to guests) but if you're there to see the sights it's sort of out of the way. You can catch the Orange Line at a stop that is a very short walk from the hotel, but it doesn't run all night, and it's approximately 30 min to get into the city. If you plan to go out and experience the nightlife of the downtown area, you will have to take a cab back, which was a little more than I had planned to pay. The hotel staff were very friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. The breakfast was very delicious and a great assortment to chose from. The beds were very comfortable, and the rooms very clean. The workout faclity had a lot of equipment for you to use. Shuttle service fantastic.

I was blown away by the quality of the customer service this motel offered. All of the staff were very friendly and helpful. They also offer a shuttle van from the motel to the orange train-Pulaski that runs 24/7, and they also offer a ride to the Midway airport. This motel is an ideal location if you do not want to pay to stay in downtown. From this […] motel to downtown isn't very far either by train. Although this was a small hotel, they gave the kind of service that you would expect to receive in the larger, more expensive hotels in the city. Very hospitable staff, clean room with all the condiments one expects. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone who comes to Chicago, Illinois. Hotel is close to Midway airport and has restaurants close by. They picked us up at subway and also took us to the airport. Very friendly staff.

My only complaint is that I was given a smoking room. When I booked the room my only requirment was that it had a refrigerator. I didn't even know that smoking rooms were still allowed in Chicago. Other than that my boyfriend and I had a great night.

The management and front desk (both day and night) were well informed and helpful to first time Chicago visitors. We wanted to stay outside the actual city but within an easy walk to the train and that is exactly what we got. They have two shuttles that seemed to be avaiable to help out for most anything. We only used it once to get to the train when […] it was raining, but they offered to drive or pick us up in various spots. The room was clean, smoke-free and comfortable. The only down side is the neighborhood is a little deserted at night. We were very pleased with our stay. We were in town for a three game baseball series, and were pleased with the 24 hour shuttle service provided. The staff were very friendly and helpful and we will probably stay there again next year.

This is a great place to stay at. The best customer service I have ever received. They picked us up from the airport, and the next morning drove us to the local store to buy city bus passes and then to the train station. Fresh Donuts and OJ in the morning.

I chose Carlton Inn Midway because it offered superior value for the money. The rate was just under half of what the "suggested" hotel of the 2011 Bike-the-Drive was charging. Appreciate staying there at Carlton Inn. The staff is what makes this hotel. They were very helpful and will drive you around in their shuttle service to the airport or the pulaski train station. Very good hotel to visit Chicago

While the hotel is not very close to downtown Chicago, it is within 2-3 blocks of the train station & the hotel staff cheerfully brought us there & picked us up promptly each & every time.
