Hawthorn - A Bed & Breakfast - Independence

We're locals but we wanted a little getaway to celebrate our anniversary. My husband found this B&B on Hotels.com and it was a great find. The mansion is over 100 years old and is beautifully restored and decorated. The rooms are spacious, comfortable, and elegant. TVs are small, but hey, that wasn't what we were there for. They also had free WIFI but […] it was a bit slow. Still again, we were there to relax and that we did. Jim, one of the owners even gave us a great recommendations for dinner. We're glad we took his advice. Breakfast was generous. Neither of us could finish our plates. But what we did manage was delicious. If it hadn't been so windy, I might have wanted to spend some time just lounging on the front porch or wandering the grounds. We cannot wait to go back to Hawthorn! We loved our room, and the breakfast is perfection. The mansion along with town of Independence is so neat and full of history. We had so much to do with so many awesome places to visit. An amazing getaway!

My boyfriend and I celebrated our anniversary at Hawthorn. Neither if us had stayed at a B&B before, and weren't sure what to expect. Jim and Wendy instantly made us feel at home, and even recommended a great, romantic place for us to have dinner. And breakfast in the morning was phenomenal! A gorgeous mansion that I can't wait to return to!

Jim and Wendy were amazing and extremely helpful and courteous. They went out of their way to suggest restaurants and gave us maps for anywhere we needed to go. The breakfast was delicious and the room beautiful and comfortable.

Hawthorn Bed and Breakfast was wonderful. My husband and I decided to spend our anniversary there. Jim and Wendy were very hospitable. If we had questions they had answers (i.e. where to eat, what to see, places to go). The room and bathroom were clean and comfortable, and there was coffee waiting for us when we woke up. Stayed at the Hawthorn for our 35th. anniversary. We enjoyed our stay with Jim and Wendy as our hosts. They were very helpful and warm and friendly. Everything was spotless and the room decor was wonderful. The whole house was beautiful inside and out.. The coffee was waiting for us when we got up in the morning, and the breakfast was excellent. What a beautiful, peaceful place to stay! We came to celebrate our Anniversary and couldn't have choose a better place! Our room, service, food ...everything was absolute perfection.
