Surfs Inn - Madeira Beach

Wet carpet,tile falling off wall in bathroom,loose shower head,tub shut off valve loose,light bulbs burnt out. Inall it did serve the purpose of a family trip the beach.

I was a little hesitant booking a small motel, but the staff was very friendly and the room was clean. The room is very basic with no amenities, but we were only steps to the beach, and the pool was clean and refreshing. My husband was missing his morning coffee, and saw that on the last day, they actually had coffee in the lobby available every morning […] complimentary. The hotel is older and slated to be replaced with condos so it is not updated. It is 2 stories with stairs and no elevator.The rooms are very small. However,the motel staff is for the most part very friendly and helpful. When wwe settled into our room tne air conditioner was not working and it was a very hot afternoon. Within an hour the service man […] was there and we had a new airconditioner installed. The pool area is clean and the pool is heated. There is a deck beside the pool with lounge chairs and patio tables right at the beach level. The water is close and the sand is clean. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. The old lady at the front desk was very rude. The ice machine didnt work. Thebeds were 30 years old and very uncomfortable. The mini fridge stunk when i opened the door. The light outside my door was blinking like a strobe light.Saw a cockroach in the room. Staff was excellent. Location good...right on the beach. hotel, itself, was very shabby.

Very basic accommodation, not much in the way of utensils in the kitchen, towels are very thin.

This place has been our favorite for a long time- Great location-right on the beach, all rooms have a magnificent view The folks that work there are all wonderful And.....the price is always right!!

The room that I booked said one double bed and the picture was very pleasant. Not at all what I got. The wall was literally crumbling away, the mold in the bathroom was horrible, there was no space to walk, one of the beds fell apart and the other was squeaky. The windows were filthy so you could barely see out of them and there were dead bugs in the […] bathroom by the window. Rust everywhere and moldy smell from the air unit which can be very harmful to people. The only good point beach was close so we didn't have to stay in the room much. Devamı

Just dont stay here. Horrible, dirty. There was still hair from the previous guests in the shower. Thats just gross. Stains on the bedspread. Heat and airconditioner broken and no one there after 8pm to help with anything. Just dont do it folks, don't say I didn't warn you.

Not the cleanest room in the world, but perfect for a weekend away. The beach is right there and the pool is heated and clean. If you like old Florida hotels with very little frills this is your spot.

Great view! bad rooms....

The location is prefect and a great view for the sun sets. So nice to be able to just walk out of a room and enjoy the sugar sand beach. We were surprised that the owners have let this formerly great Inn deteriorate to such a great degree. Too bad! We feel we should mention that our room had a crumbling wall and mold (dangerous for anyone) also mold […] around the tub, the single bed headboard was resting on the mattress and the cleaning service wasn't really up to par. This Hotel is verry old and in poor condition. The rooms are nasty...Carpet looks like its never been cleaned.The bathroom smelt terrible and my allergies bothered me the minute I walked in this place. No one should stay here.The Shoreline Island Resort was far much better and is not far From Surfs Inn at all. Every time we go to St. Pete we stay @ Surfs Inn. We love it! The location , the location, the location!!!! Fantastic!!!!

The Hotel was clean and well kept,the rooms are a little small but comfortable,good location.

The hotel staff was friendly, but the office was only open 12 hours a day. Sunday we did not have our room vacumed by the staff which was a major inconvienence due to the fact we had our 14 month old daughter with us. i will say the pool area was well maintained and the beach was just beyond the pool area. Upon arrival, there was no soap in the room. Double bed was tilted to the side approximately 10 degrees. Bottom of the curtains were moldy. Air conditioner filters were covered with dirt.

My wife and I love the older motels over the NEW uber-clean / modern style places to stay. Surf's Inn is that in spades. The rooms are small, but clean. The location is excellent, pool is super. We met quite a few guests that had been coming to stay for years and one couple told us that this is the best shape that Surf’s Inn been in years. We live about an hour from the beach and just went to the beach for a quick getaway and because it was more convenient to the Rays game than our house. Positives:The hotel is easy to get to and check-in/checkout was extremely easy. The beach outside is lovely and we had a nice view from our room. Pool area seemed nice, but small. Shuffle board courts […] available. Negatives: Old and in need of some upgrades. Exterior corridors are on beach side and some rooms therefore have obstructed view of the ocean. Curtains had some visible mold. Bathroom was clean but a little smelly. Beds were hard and uncomfortable. Doors are difficult to lock/unlock. Towels are thin and scratchy. Also, checkout was 11 and at 10:50 the front desk was knocking on our door. We yelled to tell them we'd be out in a minute, and when there was no response we continued getting ready to leave. About 3 minutes later, someone unlocked our door and entered, right in the middle of us changing clothes! I found this extremely rude and an invasion of our privacy. Devamı

great location....but the hotel is VERY old and run down. the beds suck, they must be 50 years old. Air cond units barely cool you and you have to lock your room door with the key every time you leave. My wife hated it

Had great time! Hotel was clean, kids loved pool, and right on the beach. Will definitely stay here again!

This is a motel, in the old style - but it's right on the beach and has a larger than average pool.

I stayed for one night. Room was small, outdated, but cozy. A few repair items were addressed. Big issue was the sleep quality. We had small kids laughting & screaming in the pool until 2:30 AM! Office seems to shut-down @ 8:30pm, so no management or discipline after that. Maybe it was just a bad-night?

Pictures look nice and big. For the price we paid for, I think this motel could have been better. It is a motel with two stories. Fridge was not clean (hair all over) and the floor around the corner was dirty. We stayed at the studio one (one double and one sing bed) and it was really small. Almost no room to walk around when we brough our stuff in. This […] motel is the only two stories one and the most out dated one in this area. The pool is small and everything else. We will be staying in another place near by for sure next time. It may cost a bit more but I think it will be a lot better and safer. Also, no fence around. If you leave stuff like beach chairs, you will not find them the next morning. We lost something (not expensive item). When we told the manager, he said beach bums are hanging around and they come by to check around. They should not come in since it's a private property. We were not warned this when we checked in. This was the worst room I have ever used. It had no beach view and was like a dungeon. The furnishings were old and.beat up. The veneer on the batroom door was peeling. Really bad.

The Surfs Inn is a great little hotel right on the beach with a pool if you don't mind the outdated rooms and having no little shampoos in the room. Joy was such a sweet lady at the front desk and was so helpful. I would stay here again. The ocean is right off the back patio.

People were nice and friendly, Peace and quiet with great sunsets and walks on the beach. Front door in from parking lot and back door out to pool and beach is right at the back door. Would return to this hotel. Only suggestion would be to recover or replace chairs in room. Everthing else was good.

We were actually quite happy with the location of this hotel ..quite central to all we wanted it to be. Two new chairs in that room we were in would make a lot of difference and the fridge while it worked just fine was rusting. It is time hotels/motels put chair height toilets in their bathrooms. Hotel was okay...but very outdated. It is right on the beach, with pool and barbecue grill. Wish they would update and moderize as it certainly is prime property. We had a good time and enjoyed the pool and the beach. Personel were friendly.

After reading other reviews, I was a little nervous about the age/condition of this hotel. But my wife and I stayed 2 nights and overall, loved our stay here. The hotel is dated, but the rooms were clean enough. Our first room had a very limited view of the beach, on the first floor, blocked by a staircase and the a/c wasn't working. We got moved the […] first day and loved our view from the second floor and balcony overlooking the Gulf. We looked at other places while we were in the area and I just don't think you could get any closer to the beach/water. The staff attitude could certainly use an adjustment. HOTEL AT THE BEACH & CLOSE TO CONVENIENCE STORES/MARKETS

This hotel is in such an incredibly beautiful spot, right on the beach. I couldn't believe when we pulled in late at night, went through the gate to find our room and the roar of the surf hit our ears like music. The beach was empty and the stars light up the night sky so clearly, we could name the constellations. In the morning we saw that the pool […] area and terrace look brand new (unistone). The cleaning and maintenance staff are always around and working hard. The room and bathroom were both spotlessly clean. Granted this is not a fancy resort, but a great mom & pop place, professionally run. We had good times on the balcony, drinks and chat with the guys in the room next door. Shout out to our 3 new friends from St Louis, Missouri! All rooms face the beach and share a common beachfront balcony which is gorgeous for sitting out! Everyone here is very friendly and relaxed. It was very convenient having a fridge/freezer and a microwave. The only thing missing from the room was a coffee machine, but it had a kettle and a hotplate instead, although there is a dunkin donuts directly across the street for morning coffee. Beds were extremely comfortable and the area was very quiet, we slept great! Parking is no problem, and its free, most other hotels in St. Pete's have a parking charge or no parking at all! I can't wait to come back here, I will plan a detour on our next trip to come back here again, and I would highly recommend this hotel to everyone, I've read the other complaints and find them all nonsense.This hotel is directly on the beach, the pool is about 3 feet from the beach, so it must get a little sand in the pool sometimes, I don't find this complaint reasonable! During our stay the pool and terrace were cleaned every day and kept very clean. Yes, its an older hotel, but its very well maintained and the rooms are perfectly clean. I choose this hotel because of its wonderful location and cheap room rates. Nice rooms located on the beach - just walk outside onto the white sandy beaches. The only draw back to me was that the front desk closes at 8pm. My flight didn't land until 11pm. The front desk person did leave me the lock box combo so I could get my room key and check-in in […] the morning. That was nice of her. This hotel, although conveniently located off of the highway and near the beach, was very old and unkempt. There was no shampoo, conditioner, or hairdryer, wake-up call, vending machines, etc etc...all of the basic necessities that you expect at a hotel were missing. The room was nice as were the people. I chose this hotel because the price was right for a beachfront hotel. The room was dated and the room cleaning was almost non-existant. the sink was dirty with dried coke in it. I left it in there to see if they'd clean it, no luck. Not your everyday mega Hotel but the staff sure was courteious and helpful.Katrina made sure our stay was pleasant and comfortable. the Gulf is the closest you'll find amongst all the others. This hotel was horrible. We switched rooms because the bed had hairs in it. Rooms were very dated and unclean. We only stayed one night. Checked out early. Hotel was full of teenagers hanging out and drinking. Pool was full of sand and water was cloudy. I would not let a dog go in it.

Surfs Inn is a quiet little hotel, just what we needed for 3 sisters to get away, relax, regroup & reminisce. The hotel staff was very friendly & helpful. We were within walking distance to Dockside Dave's, one of our favorite restaurants, & a short drive to John's Pass. We'll definately come again!

Most rooms are quite small, so it's a bit cramped for more than 2, even in the larger rooms. But the price is low. The pool is great, enjoyed the deck and the people. Close to the surf! Convenience store right across the street was convenient. Bed was comfortable TV's were old but working. large full size refrigerator was great but added to the crowded […] efficiency. But for a quick getaway weekend this was fine. I'd approve this hotel to anyone on a tight budget, but wants to be on the beach. Devamı

Hotel was fine. The room was adequate - a little small but the location was what sold us. The hotel is dated back to the 50's or early 60's but we had a great stay. The people were nice the pool good. What else could you want.

Beware non-smokers--I have always relied heavily on the guest hotel reviews and if I had known the rooms would smell like smoke, I would not have used this hotel. The beach and pool area are nice--the hotel is old, but that does not bother me-it is pretty well maintained, with clean beds and bathrooms, but the carpet was really bad and the room smelled […] like smoke even though it was smoke free--you just can't get the smell out if the rooms have been smoked in for 30years.
