We had a fantastic relaxing weekend stay at the Old England. The hotel would benefit from a little updating; however, it is in a wonderful location. Beautiful hotel in wonderful surroundings. Only downfall price of food and drinks.

The hotel was in a great location with free parking. There were plenty of shops, pubs, bars and restaurants nearby and the lounge and restaurant have great views of Lake Windemere. The spa looked great although we didn't have treatments; we just used the pool/sauna/steam room etc The only downside was the temperature in our room. It was quite a small […] room and even with the radiator off and the heated towel rail on the lowest setting the room was sweltering which made a good night's sleep impossible. Despite being December, we had to sleep with the window as wide as it would open but still the temperature was excessive. Other than that, the hotel was great; nice breakfast, good facilities, we were able to check in early. We would visit again. Devamı

Great stay, good food and good service. The only minus point the temperature in the room far too warm for comfort and this in November , but overall great..

Bearing in mind that this is a 4* star hotel and that the price reflects this I was actually a bit disappointed with our stay. The bathroom extractor at first wasn't working then after 'being fixed' it stayed on permanently. There was no air conditioning in the bedroom and it was like a sauna. In the name of 'security' you couldn't open the window more […] than 3 inches so we basically stewed for our one night stay. Yes, it is a nice hotel but I honestly don't believe it was value for money. Devamı

No complaints at all. The position was ideal for everything.

We had a fab view of the lake (from bed!), plus the food was good (albeit a bit expensive). Some areas of the hotel are in need of a refit as they are showing their age. Sadly, the health spa and gym were closed when we arrived, something which took us by surprise as we expected to use them. I would recommend.

Nice hotel in a lovely location,overlooking Lake Windermere. The rooms were spacious and clean as was the hotel in general. We were told the hotel was full but there was an earie silence about it at times. We then found out why, although the restaraunt is very good and food also good the prices ar too high. For the restaraunt i dont mind paying out […] for a ggod meal but the drink prices are ridiculous! Two different staff commented on this fact and said that most customers go to local restaraunts and bars as they are half the price or more. We have the money to spend and travel quite a bit to much better hotels but the Old England is over priced. But dont be put off by the prices if you are looking for a bit of endulgance, it's a nice place. Devamı

A lovely hotel in a superb location. Friendly staff, very clean public areas and room and everything you would expect from a 4* hotel. Parking was also plentiful and well organised. Safe too. On the negative side, the Spa pool was often over run with children and was running very cold. The staff did apologise for this though. The bed in our room was […] the main disappointment; the matress was obviously very old, it leaned terribly on one side as though you were going to fall out. Devamı

We went there for the weekend and thorougly enjoyed it despite the weather. Very friendly staff, nice, comfortable and spacious rooms. The parking can be a problem at busy times and for the price cooked breakfast should be included.

I went with my partner for a night's stay as we were meeting family in the area for an evening meal. The hotel was fantastic, the room huge, the bathroom was beautiful with a huge double shower, my partner and I only wished we could have stayed longer oh and a room with a lake view would have been brilliant but we booked very late so they were all taken. […] Leisure facilities great, try the ice spa! I sat for twenty minutes in the lounge just off reception as we could not check into our room until four, the weather was very poor and I was soaked to the skin, I asked a number of times if I could check in before only to be told my room would be ready at four, Could not get an answer as to the possibility it would be ready before, due to the adverse […] weather conditions that would have been nice. So I sat in the lounge for twenty minutes waiting to attract somebodies attention to order a coffee. Eventually my friend came back from the car park and asked a member of staff could we order, I personally found the member of staff to be arrogant and rude, he actually shouted at us, that we would be served when he had finished doing what he was doing,and he only had one pair of hands, I was appalled at his customer service and that for me means I will not go back. There is a huge difference in being professional and down right curt, we we found this to be the case we a couple of members of staff. Devamı

The MacDonald Old England hotel is ideally situated in the heart of Bowness and within easy walking distance of the local shops, pier and attractions. Should you enjoy walking, the hotel is also just a pleasant walk a couple of miles from the train station. What you should know is that walking there, downhill, is a lot easier than walking to the station […] from the hotel. Should walking not be for you taxis and the local 599 bus are readily available. As for the hotel, it is evident that the owners have invested a lot into the hotel. The rooms, furnishing and decorations were all top notch And the spa, which sadly we did not have enough time to do more than look at, appears quiet and serene.
