Great for 1-2 nites to explore santa monica and venice. Definitely worth getting the rooms with the ocean views. I was only on the 3rd floor, but it still had a great view of the ocean. Staff was very knowledgeable and friendly from the reception, to the doorman to the bar staff.

The rooms were small, the pool was tiny and it's not that close to the pier or 3rd st. The only good thing was the view of the beach... Scary looking homeless people are everywhere though so I don't recommend walking straight down the stairway and across the walkway to the beach. Go to the pier and walk down from there...

Shangri la is positioned directly across the road to the beach so the location is lovely. they really shouldve had balconies in every room to make the most of the views. Room was good. bathroom amazing. bed very comfortable. Unfortunately we were there while there was a function going on in the pool area, there was loud music going until atleast 12.30am […] and sleep was impossible. other than that the location of this hotel is its saviour. right around the corner from the 3rd street promenade and a block away from the pier. I probably wouldnt stay here again because of the noise factor but we will definately be back to santa monica, its a beautiful place. Devamı

What a great hotel! The location was fantastic, the room though a little small, was beautifully appointed. The bathroom with its huge tub & choice of two showers was very nice indeed. On the down side, there was no tea & coffee available in the room, no shower cap in the bathroom & body wash, shampoo & conditioner were not replaced daily

The hotel location is great, the room clean and comfy, the only draw back is the traffic noise.

We were welcomed with a smile and great service, we checked in late and they offered to open the pool or hottub if we wanted, we could eat in the dinning room or suite 700 whatever we pleased. When my husband and I arrived with my daughter and 15 year old grandson on their first trip to California, I requested ocean views for both rooms. The very charming man in reception said, "I can do better, how about a 2 bedroom suite with a kitchen? The rooms were wonderful with a beautiful view of the ocean front and Santa Monica pier. It was an excellent property with one of the best views in town. The bar on top of the hotel was great.

The bed was really comfortable and the location rocks. The air conditioner didn't work very well, there was rust on one of the shower rods, and the TV channels didn't match the guide which made me miss part of an elite eight game. Next to the water. Nice Pool area downstairs and rooftop. Nice rooftop bar. Nice bathroom setup with mirrored glass and opening windows so you can bath in the tub and look out into the room and watch TV. A few minute walk to the beach and 3rd street promenade. This hotel is located right next to the beach and close to the pier in a very walkable area. Hotel service was great - staff went the extra mile to help with our kids. Beautifully decorated. Great location.

I had a very pleasent stay at the Shangri La Hotel in Los Angeles. I got a cozy room with a great view out over the Pacific Ocean, and with a very comfortable bed. Just a short walk to Santa Monica Pier, and a nice pedestrian shopping street - 3rd Street Promenade.

We had a very nice stay here - room was clean, great access to the beach and local shops and restaurants. The only thing that was a problem at all was the lack of an iron/ironing board in the room, but when we called down to the front desk, they sent one right up. When it turned out that the iron was dirty and left a stain on my husband's shirt, the […] hotel happily comp'd our valet parking. Overall, for the price we paid, a wonderful night near the beach. The hotel is beautiful, recently renovated art deco era, they were finishing the pool section while we were there but it looked fabulous. We had an ocean view room - spectacular. The decor & fittings were appropriate to the era, the hotel is very very nice with great ambience, better than I expected. Only complaint is that the top window in the bathroom […] does not have a curtain so that light shines into your bedroom at night - that's it though (no privacy risk). The hotel is beautiful but our service was below standard. Instead of the staff making the tiniest effort to make our stay more enjoyable, they did the very least they possibly could. This could be a 5-star hotel and it's the staff that's keeping it back. Sad really.

The Shangri-La is in a great location, near the pier, lots of good restaurants, jogging trails, yoga studios. The valet lot was full our entire stay but the parking garage on 2nd St is very close and very cheap. Partial ocean view room on Arizona. The windows open which is nice for catching a breeze, but would have preferred a higher floor (we were […] on level 2) so we could have had the ocean breeze all night. Bathroom is not very private so don't bunk with strangers, but the bathtub is a great soaking tub, very deep, bring your bubble bath. Room was small, only about 5 inches of walking space between the wall-mounted credenza and the end of the bed. Could have used another 5 inches. This was a wonderful hotel. We will stay again! We opted for an ocean view room. It was beautiful. You could open the windows and let the breeze in. The rooms were airy, good size, and the bathroom was large with plenty of counter space. The bar on the top floor was beautiful. The ocean room was on a busy street, but the noise did not bother us. Hotel in great location, near beach and within walking distance of shops and restaurants. We booked a delux king and were suprised that it was so small. The bathroom was a good size with a deep oval bath. The roof top bar is a great place to relax and enjoy to sunset. We would stay here again but would book a larger

But i am not an art deco fan. Rooms are small and dated. I prefer contemporary and spacious. for those who like this style, you should check this place out.

Hotel was very nice, staff was friendly and the bellman is always at your service. Nice location, close to everything, walking distance to all amenities close by. Rooms are pretty small. I got a rate from hotels.com and wanted to renew for a second night but the rate offered by the hotel was astronomically higher, so I had to find another nearby hotel […] for a descent price which I did (Ocean View Hotel). Overall, very nice place to stay, they only have single king-beds so probably not suitable for a family if you have children etc.. unles you want to get the double-room suite Devamı

The only thing I would say is they should add the mandatory valet parking to the cost of your hotel room... 66 bucks to park 2 cars over night

We loved our room with its fantastic view, comfy bed and beautiful bath. Very nice renovation to a classic hotel. Staff was friendly and attentive. Restaurant serves terrific breakfast.

The room was absolutely beautiful. I particularly loved the sunk in tub, the view, and rooftop pink lounge. Mostly, the service was amazing. Everyone was very kind and helpful....anything I needed. I was well taken care of, and I hope to stay again soon.

We had not stayed here in about 10 years so we were surprised to see the "new" look. The hallways reminded me of the Standard Hotel in West Hollywood but once inside, the room was much nicer although small, and our bathroom felt larger than the rest of the room. I loved the "all white" bathroom. We enjoyed our stay, however, I forgot how noisy it got […] from the passing cars, buses and people talking on the street. Our written confirmation showed a deluxe ocean view room but it was more like a very partial ocean view room. We could barely see the ocean through the trees. The rooms on our floor along Ocean Avenue definitely had the deluxe ocean view which we saw when the housekeeper opened the door. The one thing I did ask the hotel the following morning was if the rooms came with handicapped bathrooms because we had one and it was slippery from using the shower. The woman who helped me was very nice and asked if we were in Room 303. When I said yes, she apologized and said she would do something about it at check out and she did. She comped our valet parking which I was not expecting so that was great. I would stay here again but next time on a higher floor and not along Arizona Street. Devamı

The only downer is that the valet is expensive so park in the parking structures on 2nd st, the street behind. only $7 a night! Except for that - I fully recommend it! Have a bubblebath, sooo nice!

Shangri La was very nice. Beautiful pool side. Very close to beach, great restaurants and shopping.

I loved staying in this hotel. I hadn't been in CA for about 20 years. I was on my own visiting a very sick friend.

It was quiet when i stayed there in late November. The pretty young things had packed up their thongs and margaritas, and the poolside was bare. I could see the pleasant lights of the ferris wheel spinning multicolored tapistries against the night sky. The valet parker could not have been more solicitious, so I gave him a five spot. As an LA Native, I've driven by the Hotel Shangri La several times, and always wondered about the rooms, lay out, prices etc. The opportunity to experience all of the above presented itself when I had an out of town guest come in for the weekend, and I thought it would be a nice treat to stay closer to the beach, and walking distance from some great […] restaurants, 3rd St, bars, the pier. We stayed on the top floor, overlooking Ocean and the beach. Gorgeous room, gorgeous view. The best amenities. I didn't want to leave the room! Devamı

We were unable to sleep We reserved a room with ocean view (located right across from the pool)and at no time anybody told us about a pool party that was going to be on until 3:00 AM in the morning We read the hotel information book in our room and even there it read that the pool was open until 10:00 PM We call the front desk but nobody answered Needs […] Improvement!!!!!! I made a reservation for an Ocean View Room They put us in a room right across the swimming pool They must of have a private party or something because there was loud music all night until about 2:00am in the morning I looked at the guest information book in my room and it said that the pool was closed after 10:00 PM I called the front desk and nobody […] answered How convinient....... The hotel staff were amazing and made us feel like VIPs. I will definitely be staying there again. View of the beach, walked everywhere, shopping, eating etc. Very comfortable stay, not too big and pool area is nice

my granddaughter and i loved the hotel. it is a primarily adult oriented hotel but children are certainly welcome. the concierge was fabulous and when i told her the rediculous itinerary i had worked out she gently guided us to something more doable and enjoyable. we had massages in our room and i can't tell you how wonderful that was. the staff was […] all pleasant. we sat by the pool and enjoyed the sun and a great hamburger. loved breakfast in the restaurant with open windows looking across to the park and the pacific. i would definitely return alone, with friends, with my grandchildren. thank you so much for a great stay. I loved the Hotel Shangri La Santa Monica. The staff is very friendly and will accomodate any special need you have (and we had a few strange ones. My friend and I got tattoos on Venice Beach, and later that night needed saran wrap and tape. We called the front desk and, within minutes, no questions asked, a bell boy was standing at our door with a […] big box of saran wrap and tape!). The pool is nice, although it gets a little crowded on the weekend, and finding a chair near the pool can be a challenge. The hotel is minutes from Santa Monica Pier (you can see the Pier from the hotel), and right across the street form the beach. The only thing I wish I had known before booking this hotel is that its pool bar plays very loud DJ music until about midnight every night. If you need to get to bed early, forget it. The sound of the music and the voices by the pool carries up into your room as if the party was right in your bathroom. Other than that, everything was great about this hotel. Devamı

The pool area played lous music day and very night for the two days of my stay. The music could be heard through the bathroom of my room.

Great location, clean room, friendly staff. What else do you need? Oh, yes: A huge, comfortable pool area with a great design.
