Best Western Blue Square Hotel - Amsterdam

Blue Square is situated in a quiet area outside Amsterdam centre which was nice and convenient for my visit. Everything worked out fine. Staff was helpful and accomodating. The room was clean and comfortable. The breakfast restaurant had a sufficient selection of food to satisfy most needs and requirements. I would go there again.

Would use again. Good service, large room and not to far from central Amsterdam via tram. Room was very cold, however hotel did supply 2 eletric heaters which was sufficent. Would recommend.

The hotel is good with friendly and helpful staff but my room was very very small and it is dark even the all the light on,the bathroom is exellent.

I would categorise this hotel as a student hostel. Definitely not a business man's hotel. Not more than a three star category hotel (even though it says it is a four star)

Rooms were clean, tram + bus connections available (+/- 30 minutes to the centre of Amsterdam), parking is very expensive, you can have a breakfast at 10 EUR instead of 12,5 EUR if you book it 24 hours in advance. Surprisingly many of the hotel employees didn't speak dutch but only english. When I indicated that there were no croissants any more, they […] left me waiting for 30 minutes. When I asked again, they brought me 2 littre croissants within 5 minutes. The hotel staff didn't take away the dirty plates during breakfast. I didn't like the neighbourhoud at all. The hotels.com site describes this hotel as being close to most of the main tourist descriptions which would lead one to believe that is located centrally. Instead, it is located in Sloterdijk which is close to the airport and around 20 - 30 minutes from the centre. The hotel itself is comfortable but the service is a little cold and unfriendly.

Very nice hotel. Our hotel room, as well as the whole hotel itself was in good quality condition. It had many coupons and information packets available. The air conditioner in our room did not work though. We were moved to another room, and that one ''worked'' but it still felt hot. Our room looked and felt very clean. Overall, I was very pleased with […] this hotel. I would stay here again. A downside though, was that it was slightly out of the way of the city. It claimed it was ''close to Anne Frank's House'' but it was not. The centrum of the city was quite a drive, about 15 minutes. Yes fine we stayed 1 night, rooms were good, Reception staff a little stressed and did not report delays in Taxi to us, would stay again, just won't rely on Reception organising things, do it myself I would give in 3 out of 5

I pre-booked a hotel cab to go the airport at 5:30 am, but the cab did not arrive on time. After waiting for 10 minutes, I wanted to take a random cab right outside the hotel as I was rushing to the airport. To my horror, the hotel reception staff forcefully locked the main gate to prevent me from leaving so I will wait for the hotel cab. I argued that […] I was running late and there was no sign of the hotel cab arriving but the hotel staff neither cared or listened. I was finally "released" when another guest wanted to leave and was locked in. This was a horrifying and shocking experience. With such rude service, I would not recommend this hotel at all. Devamı

Amazing room, extremely clean, comfortable beds, quiet, great hotel. But you will have to travel 30 to 40 minutes everyday (and transport -public or taxis- are VERY EXPENSIVE) in order to go to downtown or to the main museums or attractions, also the neighborhood is really bad.

Yes I read the other reviews about the hotel being far out. But it's not just far from Amsterdam, it's completely outside the city in a suburb called Slotermeer. If the hotel is listed where it really is then you'll better understand. I thought it was just 20 to 30 minutes out. But when you add in the time to walk to trolley 13, the time to wait for […] trolley 13, then the travel time it ends up being 90 minutes each way. Taxis will run you back and forth for 20euro per trip. My room was poor, initially it had no safe and the people at the desk offered to send someone to show me the safe. This was a waste of everyone's time, as the room had no safe. They apologized but did nothing. Then they changed me on the second night to a room with a safe. So here are my recommendations: 1. Don't stay here if you came to visit Amsterdam. 2. Don't pay for breakfast. Breakfast is pretty good and you can walk in and eat and not charge it to your room. They didn't manage it well. 3. Don't stay here. Overall I was way too disappointed about the travel times back and forth (too far for a bike too) to get over any good characteristics (free computer in reception area for instance). Then the thing about the safe got to me too. Finally, I had to double check windows as the first room had an easily accessible window that was unlocked and someone could have entered the room for devious reasons (i.e., theft). I do understand Best Western's business model here. They get far away places, fix them up a little, advertise heavily and use their network ... and leave people disappointed. Devamı

Ok hotel

I thought this was a pretty good hotel. 30 minute bus ride from the city, but, accessible from approx 5 lines and 2 trains. The hotel itself was above usual standards in Europe for this price. Not perfect, but would stay again.

There wasw a shuttle service fro airport to hotel-easy-affordable per person/ Although the neighborhood is not the best, it was convenient to a street market, mall with many stores..got my glasses fixed- and restaurants plus 2 street cars to down town. I'd recommend it.

The staff was very accomidating. the free computer in the lounge was nice to use to contact our relativies. Public transportation was very close and convient. The beds were comfortable. We would stay there again.

We arrived early in the AM after an all night flight. The staff was very good and had our room ready quickly.The computers in the lobby were free and good for us to update our relatives back in the states. the breakfast was average and attractively displayed.The tram to everywhere we wanted to go was very near. All in all a pleasant experience.

When we booked the hotel we thought it was much closer to the city center. it took us every time about 25 min to get to the city center. If you are planning to travel outside of Amsterdam than the hotel is ok for u. But in case Amsterdam is what you want to see i would recommend a closer hotel.

Rooms were clean, staff was very friendly. Wifi was free (which is awesome BTW, who the heck still charges for Wifi???) Location was close to airport but not really near tourist attractions, however they were reachable within two TRAM rides. Showers were clean and water pressure was good. Would stay again. Price was very good considering amenities.

Hotel attendants were friendly and helpful. The overall service was excellent for the price. The tram takes you to the center city (Dam) and the tram station is only one block from the hotel (less than 5 min of walking). Good hotel, if you just need a night to visit Amsterdam. Easy to park, easy to go to the motorway or to go by car to the city center of Amsterdam. Parking from 21.00 to 09.00 is free on the street. Rooms are clean and practical.

This is a nice hotel 15 minutes away from the center of Amsterdam. We loved it there, the hotel is very modern, clean, and comfortable. The area looked pretty safe and we had no problems. As I observed, this is mostly turkish part of the town. Highly recommend to those who can't stand drugs or prostitution, or came to the town for business.

stupidly I booked the wrong night - entirely my fault but the lady on reception tried to charge me top rate - i wanted to google another hotel but my friend paniced. In the end paid an very significant extra amount and was well ripped off. Even if I had booked the right night they told me I would have had to pay extra taxes anyway - i wasn't listening […] properly good points - very good room - clean - quiet - good TV and tea/ coffee available with kettle, bathroom very clean and well designed. Bad points - 20 minutes minimum from centre - if you want a rest about 5-6pm just to shower etc this is a bind - the area itself is predominately muslim - i liked it because there was a turkish kebab right oppoisite and the food was delicious but the place itself wasn't up to much. the bar is a wate of time. Internet facilities are difficult to use, slow and there is a queue for the 2 pcs at peak hours. There are loads of better /cheaper hotels so overall i am not impressed with this one. I doubt i will ever visit it again but overall its not a bad hotel and the beds are really really comfortable it is just in the wrong position. Don't be put off by my comments it was my own fault that i booked the wrong date but i have made mistakes before and in other hotels they have been far more reasonable about helping me out. Devamı

The Hotel is situated quite a distance from Central Amsterdam so it didn't suit us. Though the Hotel is nice inside the area it is situated in isn't that great.

Great Hotel. Nearby is a good tram that will take you to the historic center in about 15 minutes. Romm was great and had individually controlled A/C and heating, a rarity in Europe. Staff was very helpful. Not much to see in the surrouding area but if you are sighteeing all day shouldn't be much of a problem.

Excellent service and quality of room. Convenient location but not for partying in the city. Otherwise, easy to get around in a quiet part of the city.

Our hotel was located very near tram stop #14, which takes you directly to the city centre and dam square. There was many nice walking areas behind the hotel where we could wake up in the morning and just take a nice long walk along canals and trees. The staff at the hotel can explain very clearly and give you maps to show you how to get ANYWHERE you […] want to get to, and they do it in English too! They can explain all about using the buses, metros, and trams very clearly as well. And they even sell your transportation tickets at the hotel desk! They sell them in 1- or 2-day passes and can be used for bus, metro, and tram. They are also very inexpensive when you buy them at the hotel. There were times where we would get back late and walk around the neighborhood at night and it was very still and quiet and not many people out. Just still be aware of your surroundings at night though. The restaurant food is a bit pricey for the small portions they serve but I have to admit it was still pretty delicious. There is a bar downstairs where other hotel guests will congregate in the evenings, we had a couple of Heinekens there. Overall it was a very pleasant stay, our beds were made everyday, but the best feature is the great staff that can answer any question you may have. I would definitely recommend this hotel. A great value for the price. OH! and FREE WIRELESS INTERNET! Just SKYPE with your friends back home like we did! Devamı

Not bad, nothing to do by the hotel, but public transportation is really close to the hotel. Staff were OK depending who was at the front desk. They charge 10 euros for breakfast. Free wireless is a plus and the signal wasn't bad. If you don't mind staying about 15 away from downtown then this hotel should be fine. Enjoy!

About 10-20 minutes to downtown Amsterdam depending on traffic. It was convenient to take the local bus and tram; there was a stop right outside our hotel. The hotel staff was ok. They didn't help us with our bags or offer much assistance without us asking. The Internet in the lobby free for guests was so slow, it was unusable for the most part. In […] the rooms, the beds were comfortable; especially the pillows. The best thing about the hotel was the price. We payed much less than the rooms in downtown Amsterdam. Since we were not in downtown, we would rather have stayed in Haarlem, where rooms are similarly priced and there is more to do right outside the hotels, and it's just a 15 minute train ride to Amsterdam. I stayed two nights and overall, i do recommend this place. Even though it's a bit far away from main attractions but with the public transportation, you can handle this minor detail. Bad neighborhood, OK room, loud noises from party goers

Well I think one of the other reviews said not to judge the hotel by the outside and that the neighborhood looked iffy. Well when we drove up we thought uh-oh. I wasn't comfortable, HOWEVER, the hotel inside was very nice and after being around the hotel area it was a little sketchy during the day, but night time was nice. We had four twin beds and […] plenty of room. The staff was excellent all speaking excellent english. They even were able to sell us transportation tickets for the tram and bus. It saved a trip. The nearest tram is about a 3 minute walk but not bad. We would consider staying there again. The room and the staff made it worth it. The parking you have to pay for each time you move your car out but it is pretty secure. No problems there. Breakfast was typical and not bad, we ate there twice. Didn't try it for dinner. Not a lot around the hotel but a fiew places and a small mall. Free wireless wasn't bad and computers in the lobby to use were slow but worked. You always hear complaints about the pillows and beds. Slept wonderful on the bed and did you ever hear a complaint that the pillows were two fluffy??? We had two on each bed and one was too thick for me!!! That is a first.... Devamı

hotel was very clean and reasonably priced, but too far from the center of town and from the airport....even the taxi driver thought it was way out. The restaurant, however, was very good. If I had to complain it would be that the bed and the pillows were a little too soft for my liking, the shower didn't have a non slip floor (all marble/tile), and that water could leak out of the shower. This hotel is brand new and gorgeous. The room was very large, especially for a European hotel room. The bathroom was very modern and elegant, with a large shower. The bed was the most comfortable bed I have had in Europe, and the amenities of the room were excellent. The employees were very friendly, and even though I slept in very late one day (recovering […] from jet-lag) and didn't leave the hotel until the afternoon, I awoke to find that housekeeping had left fresh towels, tissue, and other items outside of my door. A very unexpected and nice touch! The only downside was that this hotel is not in the city centre. There is a tram and bus stop very close to the front door of the hotel, and you can be in the city centre within 10-15 minutes. If you don't mind not being in the city centre, then this won't be an issue. The area around the hotel is just okay. It is not dangerous, and I was able to walk around by myself during both day and night without any problems, but the neighborhood does not have any of the architectural charm of the city centre. Confortevole l'arredamento interno e molto gentile e disponibile il personale ma è un pò fuori città, anche se ha la fermata del tram molto vicina; scadente l'aspetto esteriore dell'hotel per essere un 4 stelle e durante la notte la camera è stata sempre molto fredda!

Nära till metro. Godkända restauranger i närheten. Trevlig personal på hotellet. Bra men dyr fruckost.

Hyvin rahalle vastinetta, runsas aamiainen. W-lan yhteys huoneessa surkea. Helppo ja nopea raitiovaunu yhteys keskustaan. Henkilökunta mukavaa ja ammattimaista.

Vi var taget en flok løbere til Amsterdam for at løbe maraton. Hotellet som sådan er godt, fint, rent og værelser er udemærkede - men brug ikke dette som hotel før dit næste Amsterdam Maraton. Vi kunne sagtens bestille tidlig morgenmad (lunchbox) men jeg tror aldrig jeg har set noget værre fra et hotelkøkken (de bestilte juice var blevet til vand, de […] bestilte bananer var blevet til grønne æbler og det mørke brød med syltetøj var blevet til lyst brød med nutella - det er bare ikke ok) Devamı

Das Hotel war eigentlich ganz okay. Doch in meinen Augen eher ein 3 Sterne Hotel. Es war einugermassen sauber. Doch hatte Mängel. So kam nur tröpfchenweise Wasser aus der Dusche und die Temperaturdavon sprang von heiss zu kalt, ohne dass man den Hahn betätigte. Ansonsten war ich bis auf die Lage ganz zufrieden. Denn mit dem nervigen Tram, das alle hundert […] Meter hält hatte man gute 20 bis 25 Minuten bis zum Dam. Dafür war es trotz direkter Strassenlage sehr ruhig. Devamı
