Traders Hotel Hong Kong by Shangri-La - Hong Kong

Being a strategy for living, I should have known why this place is cheaper than others and should have done some thorough research. It's really far from everything and the free shuttle service is so limited that you can't rely much on it and to top all that, service sucks. Our room was not ready, we had to fight to get a non-smoking room although we […] reserved a non-smoking queen (apparently, hotels.com booking doesn't guarantee it) and TV wasn't working properly. Mold all over the shower curtain. I had to press the flush button for like minute until it starts flushing (they even have a sigh asking people to press for awhile). Perhaps not as nice as some of the Traders hotels elsewhere, the rooms are on the small side but well appointed. Bathrooms are a little more dated and presumably have not been refitted since this was the Jen Hotel.

rooms were clean, the gym was nice and looks out to the city with a nice view. It's easy to find local food all around ... for the unadventurous, there is a KFC down the road and Mc Donalds just opposite the hotel. Lots of bakeries nearby so u definitely can't starve! Supermarkets are nearby to buy mineral water and other snacks .. and just a short […] walk away to the parallel street is the tram stop where u can easily hop on to get a ride to the nearest MTR station (Sheung Wan). The tram moves along a street where all types of dried foodstuff can be bought and this street is walkable from the hotel. Devamı

Hotel Jen had striking and austere design in the room which was small but comfortable. There was only one small closet for some coats or shoes. There was no dresser. We had the package that included breakfast and a happy hour in the early evening. The best thing about those times was that they were held at the top of the hotel with a great view overlooking […] the harbor. There was an attractive fitness area and pool at the very top of the hotel that looked great. The hotel was located in a funky, working-class Chinese area, which we liked and found very interesting. (It was quite safe.) Others might like it less. You needed to take a taxi, which were inexpensive to get to downtown or an MTR station. Well, I read some reviews about how great this hotel is. I can't speak for everyone but my experience was just okay. The hotel is actually older and smaller than I thought. The bathroom in my room wasn't maintained very well. The carpet is old but clean enough to step on with my bare feet. My flat screen TV had bad cable reception but I didn't want […] to waste time to complain about it. The location of the hotel is not very convenient because it's far from the subway train station. The staff are friendly though. But I will definitely try another hotel with the same amount of money. However, if you are on a budget, this hotel is good enough but don't expect a great experience. Overall I would say that the Jen Hotel is an excellent hotel at budget rates. I had a room on the 23rd floor overlooking the harbour, which included free WiFi in the room and also a free breakfast in the 28th floor lounge. Couldn't ask for more. The bed was very comfortable, with great pillows. I loved having a stand-up shower. My only complaint about […] the room is the hardwood floors. It made the room feel somewhat cold, and I couldn't lie down on the floor to do my morning exercises. Also, the location of the Jen Hotel is not ideal if you are doing business in Hong Kong. It's in the Western District, which is about a 15 minute taxi ride from the Central District. However, the cab fares are relatively cheap, so it wasn't a big deal. This hotel deserves more than its hotel rating. The hotel is very clean, the staff were accomodating, helpful and polite. My son came earlier than us but was given the room much earlier than the check-in time. We were given a room adjacent to my children's and we even had a good view of the harbor. The driver of the shuttle was very kind to give us […] tips on how we can reach the places we wanted to see. Well, you will be if you check into Traders. Too far from the MTR (subway) to walk and difficult to get a taxi when it's raining in the morning and you're late for an appointment. So the only way to get to the MTR is by the funny looking trolleys, which is great when you are on vacation and have 20 minutes to waste. When I work in HK I like to take […] a run in the evening and a swim, so I made sure the hotel had a gym and a pool. The gym (size of a tiny hotel room) had one treadmill working (out of 2) and the pool was a cold experience even for a norwegian. 13 celsius is not swimming temperature. Meaning - pool is not heated. My room was clean, but rundown. The floors where supposed to be hardwood floors but mine where stainy old wall to wall carpeting. Disgusting. I'm sorry, but I'll never stay at his hotel again, ever.
